48481 I listened to an Audiobook of Divergent last year and just didn't really get into it. I didn't think I was going to continue the series but I loved the second book. And the third was just kinda so so, I liked the ending. But from what I remember about the first book there was just a lot of excessive world-building.

48481 I loved this book! I read it a couple of years too and I just remember enjoying how fun it was. I thought the idea was cool too. Unfortunately I wasn't a Rush fan growing up so I had to look up a lot of the music. But I could totally picture it. It actually made me feel a lot like I felt in the 90s when AOL was first popular and there was worries about "everything" being online. So that was kinda cool too.
48481 I'm almost done with it. It's spooky but not as scary as I thought it would be. I generally don't like to get really scared, so I'm glad it's not too too scary as well.

48481 I was completely surprised by Danny's role in the book because it was so different from his role in the Movie, and that may be the only part I liked better in the movie than the book. But I much preferred the revelation of their mutual affection in the book over the movie.

I think to me what made Patrick so convincing was the repetition of so many of his key phrases, like the bad place and I'm trying to be kind rather than right. All that stuff really resonated with me, because I've know people when going through a recovery that cling to very specific phrases or actions that they have to call upon when stressed.

48481 Finished it last night and oh my goodness I cried!!! I'll rewatch the movie this weekend, but oh my heart it was so good!

48481 Alina- the football stuff is what totally threw me! I didn't know tailgating was like that! I've never been tailgating and only went to a handful of football games in college so my perspective was very small, but if that's really how tailgating is I don't think I'd like it. But the descriptions are great, you get a real sense of being surrounded by a mob of crazed fans and I'm sure that energy is so permeating.

48481 Super excited to talk about this book. I loved the movie and am half way through the book. Lots of different stuff so far but the spirit is still there as far as I can tell in the movie, but I'm enjoying the book cause we're in Pat's head.

48481 This book was both terrible and great. I too hate to admit how much I enjoyed it when I first read it, but I honestly preferred Walking Disaster more. I don't know maybe it was just because I find Abby so frustrating, but Travis on the other hand while frustrating just seemed to be way more honest. I don't know I really like both books and while somewhat ashamed to admit it every once in a while you just need a good bubble gum book.
