465 58. When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka

I should be more moved by this book. After all, it's about being Japanese in the US during WWII, about being hauled off to internment camps, about being segregated. But ehh, no. Too unfeeling. I didn't feel hooked into the injustice.

59. Leave It to Me by Bharati Mukherjee

Terrible. Don't even attempt lah. I had such high hopes for this one, what with it being a New York Times notable book; having rave reviews from the Boston globe, the San Francisco Chronicle, People, New York Daily; it being inducted into the Ballantine Readers' Circle, it having a group reading guide.

Ehhh, tak payah. Ms Mukerjee's jalan cerita pingpong-ing here there everywhere. Erratic would sum it up. Erratic. Erratic. Erratic. If it weren't for my severe respect for the published tome, this one nak aje aku carik-carik buat bin-liner.

465 56. Is Kissing A Girl Who Smokes Like Licking An Ashtray? by Randy Powell

And the answer is.....? :D
465 I don't have particular reading times or habits. What I do have is lotsa waiting time - tunggu anak keluar sekolah, keluar tuition, keluar ngaji, habih main bola etc etc etc. Also at traffic lights and masa traffic jam.

I read whilst waiting!

But oh, if the book is particularly susah, then I read at the dining table with my huge Oxford dictionary open and pencil in hand (I 'collect' bombastic words. I underline them and write their definitions at the bottom of the page). Yes, yes, I'm weird like that hahahaha

465 And so I do like Faizah's I-can't-be-bothered approach!!
25 days ago, 06:29PM

465 I beg to differ... sebab I can never sort out books successfully. It's fun, but never satisfying sebab I always end up on the floor poring through the books, flicking thru tengok gambar, thinking I-should-read-this-next to berapa puluh buku hahahaha

465 55. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo

Sigh. Cerita ni teramatlah simple, tapi sedih sangat. Jalan cerita bagus, ending pun bagus. Macam The Velveteen Rabbit.

Mana Bunnybaby? Baca buku ni! :)
465 If you know where Summit USJ is, turn right at the crossroads traffic lights before you hit Giant + Mydin. Along this road lah :)

(This, from a person supposed to be restraining herself from buying more books this year. Hrrmmmph, iye lah tu...)
