Insatiable by Meg Cabot
Stardoc by S.L. Viehl

46156 I'm here because I love to read and review books! Hellooooooo everyone! *waves arms*
46156 Hi! I'm new. :)

1. I used to hate romances because I assumed that they had to be bodice-rippers or just really cheesy. Now I've learned that pretty much any genre can be a romance: a book merely has to have an overarching plot about two characters forming or developing a relationship in order to be considered a romance, in my opinion.

2. When this is done well, I think it adds a lot to a book because it's easier to get invested in a character if you want them to hook up with another character whom you really like.

Personally, my favorite sub-genres are classic romances (so Jane Eyre, anything by Jane Austen, Lorna Doone, etc.); sci-fi romances (I'm a huge Linnea Sinclear and Ann Aguirre fan); and fantasy-romance (Maria V. Snyder has an awesome book called Poison Study which focuses on assassins and poisons - it's really cool! Mercedes Lackey's Five Hundred Kingdoms series is also an excellent gateway book for reluctant romance fans).

If you want any more suggestions, feel free to ask or check out my shelves. I've been told I'm a bit of a tomboy, and frequently I have more books in common with my guy friends than girl friends!! :)

Hope this helps!
