I read Karen Marie Moning. Her Fever series is amazing. Also I like Kathy Reichs, the lady who they base the show Bones after. I actually like the books better because the Temperance Brennan character is much more like a normal human being. I also read a lot of young adult fiction since I am a middle/high school teacher. I like Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games Trilogy. The third book is not out yet but they are amazing...oh and The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan. Both these YA series are really good easy reads but extremely enjoyable. As for more adult stuff again...Laurell K. Hamilton with her Anita Blake series. Oh and Shannon McKenna she has a series that is quite good starts with these brothers and has branched off to the people around them. Kind of a romance/thriller. Lucy Monroe also has a series of books too they are romance but with some intrigue involved, and a lot of badass guys who are sexy.
I think that the future aspect plays a minor role. And in talking to some geek friends many of the future gadgets and things they use are in the works or working right now just on a much smaller scale as they are refined. It is just one of those things that is there but is secondary. It is all about character development.
Castle is great. I love nathan Fillion. Oh and she would be a great Eve if we made her act a little more on the tough side,=.
Ok so I liked it. I had a few problems with it in general...like not enough McNab or Feeney, but the parts where she is stressing about things for Louise and the wedding were great. It seemed to me to be a good start for a book but there was more depth needed in it for the circle of characters. I did appreciate that Jaime was in the mix again. I liked the info they game about him and what he was going to do and how upset Roarke was over the fact that he couldn't steal Jaime away. I like all of her books. Sometimes I feel like they are not as in depth as I want though. Still waiting to see if McNab and Peabody take the plunge soon.
What did you all think?
It comes out in November. I am beside myself...I have read the first chapter online at the J.D. Robb website several times.Shannon
To be honest that whole bad delivery happened to me with the 6th Harry Potter book so I just go to the store and buy them. I find that the J.D. Robb books are always there and I can just pick one up.
K thanks, I did not know that I could hide, still fairly new and just wanted to start a convo about the book.
Sorry, not to be snippy because I was the one that posted first on this but since it was posted on the title of that new book if you are unsure then wait until you are done reading the book before going on the post. I posted this as soon as I was done reading the book in case anyone who was done wanted to converse on it. Since you can see what it is about it should not be a major surprise that I was talking about it. Please do not take this the wrong way I hope this does not come off too snotty. I just really wanted to see what people had to say about the book and what they thought of the scenes that I enjoyed. Sorry to spoil anything for you.
Ok, I finished it and I loved it. I felt like this was going back to the feel of previous books after a disappointing Salvation in Death. The gooeyness of Eve off and on for Roarke and how she just realizes how he gets her was fantastic (THE NEW CAR!!!), and her caring and compassion for Morris and great dreams about Coltraine (I choose to believe that it was not all Eve's subconscious). I was hooked from start to finsh and just really enjoyed it all. Oh and having the bridal shower and then getting to use all of her women in a walk-through of what she had was a genius way to get through it. Mavis is amazing and Eve is lucky to have her.

I love all the scenes that you guys chose but I have two that stick in my mind. When Eve and Peabody are on the stakeout for Imitation in Death and Eve calls Peabody Detective. That scene through to the end when Eve is in her dress uniform for Peabody's promotion. The way she makes Peabody feel so special was very moving. The other scene comes to mind is when McNab get's feeling back in his legs and enters the room with the walking stick and the feelings that Eve has on seeing that he is back to walking were amazing. I was just rereading Divided in Death and she was watching her crew in her home office and realizing how much she needed all of them. There are so many scenes but those two are my favorites.
I am really excited about this book but heartbroken for Morris. I liked Amarylis and Eve was completely baffled by her femininity. I would like to see an engagement of Peabody and McNab soon, or something like that. I do like when things open up on Eve and Roarke's past. While I was reading other posts about the series and people think that they are starting to get all the same I think that this is what makes the series. You can always count on Eve to save the day and to have friends and family that help her along the way. The new stuff is what happens with all the key characters and how they develop throughout the story. So I am really looking forward to the new book. I usually read it in about two days then start reading again.
Charlie Kranz is an Irish actor I saw a picture of. He kind of has an edge to himself that lends to Roarke's darker side but is sinfully good-looking.Another one but a little on the young side is Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. I think he has the most beautiful eyes and so that could possibly play. I have pictured them in my minds and these two men come close to my visual picture. Also the guy from Hero's that plays Peter is an Irish actor. I also think he is a little on the young side but that would be another possibility.
As for Eve I have often pictured someone with the short choppy haircut Meg Ryan had in You've Got Mail (but not Meg Ryan herself, just that hair). Someone who does not fit the physical I see but has the attitude is Mary McCormack from the new USA television series In Plain Sight. She has the vulnerability but the kick ass nature I see in Eve.
