Lorifog, I posted some of the chapter and there's also a link to the rest of it. It's in the 'Kindred in Death' excerpt thread.
Excerpt from Kindred in Death by J. D. Robb
She’d died and gone to heaven. or better, because who knew if there was really good sex and lazy holiday mornings in heaven. She was alive and kicking.
Well, alive anyway. A little sleepy, a whole lot satisfied, and happy the end of the Urban Wars nearly forty years before had resulted in the international Peace Day holiday.
Maybe the Sunday in June had been selected arbitrarily, and certainly symbolically — and maybe remnants of that ugly period still littered the global landscape even in 2060—but she supposed people were entitled to their parades, cookouts, windy speeches, and long, drunk weekends.
Personally, she was happy to have two days off in a row for any reason.
Especially when a Sunday kicked off like this one.
Eve Dallas, murder cop and ass-kicker, sprawled naked across her husband, who’d just given her a nice glimpse of heaven. She figured she’d given him a good look at it, too, as he lay under her, one hand lazily stroking her butt and his heart pounding like a turbo hammer.
She felt the thump on the bed that was their pudgy cat, Galahad, joining them now that the show was over.
She thought: Our happy little family on a do-nothing Sunday morning. And wasn’t that an amazing thing? She had a happy little family—a home, an absurdly gorgeous and fascinating man who loved her, and — it couldn’t be overstated—really good sex.
Not to mention the day off.
She purred, nearly as enthusiastically as the cat, and nuzzled into the curve of Roarke’s neck.
Kindred in Death excerpt
The books have definitely branched out and it's nice to hear more about the other characters and what's going on in their lives. I love this series! I got my brother and sister hooked on it!
I haven't been able to listen to the audio books. I don't want to buy them and my library doesn't have them at the moment, but i'm hoping they'll purchase some.
Tonya, I don't think 'Castle' is shown in the UK. I'll google it and check it out. I can't think of anyone who could play Roarke, I might do some research if I go to Ireland in the Summer. ;)
I LOVED it! The 'hen night' scene was so funny! Eve totally panicked when Mira got in the pool, she blocked her ears when Mira started talking about sex, with Dennis! This is one of the best in the series. Roarke is so dreamy, I loved when he put his foot down, Eve was not getting out of the hen night, the car totally rocked! Woo hoo! Then she drew her gun, when the baby was crying. LOL
Poor Morris, I felt so sorry for him.
My cousin finally gave back some of my books, as soon as I have free book time, i'm definitely rereading the series.
I really like Eve's character, I think she's an amazing strong female and she overcame a horrendous, traumatic childhood. Eve has definitely grown throughout the series. She has learned to love and trust Roarke, her relationships with her friends have developed and strengthened. She's come a long way since the earlier books.
Hi Teryl, welcome to the group. The characters are great! Whenever I read the books, I feel as though i'm catching up with old friends.
OMG! I can't believe it can take over a year to get a book! I've never heard of anything like that before. That sucks!
Adelheid, that's awful. I don't know what i'd do without my library. I'm always filling in slips asking my library to purchase more books. I'm quite lucky as they've bought every book that i've asked for, the staff are so helpful and i'll often curl up in one of the chairs and read for hrs.

I love reading and it's so hard to cut back the amount of books I buy. Goodreads is killing me! LOL My friends send me book recommendations and I can't help adding them to my list.
I know, I bought a boxful of books last week, my library had a sale and I couldn't resist. It wasn't too bad because it only cost me £4 for the lot. I'm trying really hard not to buy any books, unless it's a book by my favourite author and I can't wait for the library to stock it.
I have so many books to read, I keep finding new authors to add to my tbr list. It's currently over 300!
Adelheid, i've been known to drive my sisters crazy because I keep telling them that I can't wait to find out what happens next. They're always telling me to stop reading the snippets/blurbs because it doesn't help.
Hi Karen, welcome to the group. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. The next book Glory in death is one of my favourites.
Jess, I don't even try not to read the blurbs/snippets etc anymore. I have no willpower when it comes to finding out about a new book! LOL
It makes things worse because i'm desperate to read it, but I can't stop myself.
