Kate's comments from the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer group.

I understand where he's coming from. The fandom of Stephenie Meyer has blown these books out of proportion. I loved them, don't get me wrong--but on the same note, I also loved V.C. Andrews for a period of time, and no one is going to call her (or her ghostwriter) a literary genius. It's a good story.
I always felt, and I know I'm not alone, that the pacing of the Twilight books is off. There's basically no plot until the end in all of them, or at least the climax of the books seem to come out of nowhere with very little pre-planning and takes up the final 50 pages of an 800 page book. Most of us clearly enjoyed the characters enough to read about their lives and relationships without there being much by way of plot or conflict for the first 600 or so pages. I think there is something to be said for that... I wouldn't say that Meyer "can't write worth a darn" but she seems to be very good at characterization and less great at plot/pacing.
I also love Stephen King... and you have to think back to how critics didn't think he was a great writer when he first started his career.
I did like it, although probably more as a fan of the books than because it was a great movie. I definitely enjoyed the humor, and I agree that Bella & Edward's relationship kind of went from 0 to 60 mid-movie. I liked how the action of the climax of the book was spread out more throughout the movie. I've never been a huge Edward fan and the movie didn't convince me (I'll reserve judgment on the actor playing Jacob, because he only had a few scenes in this movie). However... James is hot! I felt like the movie stayed very true to the book and I liked hearing some of the book's dialogue spoken out loud.
No party, but I am going out to see the movie on opening night, and I made goody bags for my friends with some Twilight chapstick (twilightlips.com), buttons with funny Twilight sayings on them, some body glitter lotion I'm making, and CDs featuring songs from the Twilight playlist on SM's site (including the version of "Bella's Lullaby" not on the movie soundtrack by Yiruma--way better than Carter Burwell's version). I'm also thinking about throwing in some caramel apples... I had some other things too (leftover from the Breaking Dawn release party I threw at my library, like Bella's engagement ring, Eclipse gum), but I think I may hold onto them for when the next movies come out! (I heard they signed on for at least the next two, although it may be conditional on how much money they make on this movie).
I'm such a Twilight geek :)
I think I would be Leah... I like the werewolves and I'm kind of bitter toward men... he he. Plus I like that she's fast and runs with the boys, kind of a female warrior. Plus I'm the oldest and I get along with my younger brother.
Of course it would also mean I could be closer to Jacob (who I want for myself!).
Yeah, Edward looks disgusting, like a zombie wearing a Donald Trump wig. Isn't he supposed to be hot? And Bella looks too made up.
I like the inside picture in black & white much better:
I agree with Sarah that Edward is the better choice for Bella... if she wants to be a vampire. Clearly their love can't survive if Bella does not become a vampire. But considering how Bella faints at the sight of blood, etc., I think she might be better off with Jacob. He's at least half-human and so she could actually have a sort of normal life with him. Although I don't think she feels the same for Jacob as she does for Edward, and that would eventually hurt her relationship with Jacob in the end.
Personally I think Bella can have Edward--I want Jacob for myself!
Yeah, I don't know if I'd want to have to live on blood... but I might become a werewolf--you don't need to worry about the torture of living forever, and you can eat normal food.
It does kind of look that way, but I think it may be the scene where Jacob tells Bella about the old tribal tales, and maybe the other werewolves are in the film, but as a flashback or illustration of past events. I think during that beach party scene, the other "werewolves" are there with Jacob, but all in human form, so they may just be setting groundwork for the next movie, too. At least I hope so!
Sella--
I went on IMDB to find out who was playing Jacob and the hair was weird for me too, but check out this clip I found on youtube--he has long hair!:

She only signed one book with a personalized message, but all got the signature. But from what I heard about her signings for The Host, you have to get tickets now (probably to avoid the same kind of mob scene). I'm still hoping she'll come back to New England so I can see her again!
I would highly recommend "Blood and Chocolate" by Annette Curtis Klause--it's a werewolf story, but the romance aspect reminds me a lot of Twilight.
I also am enjoying the Blue Bloods series, also "Evernight" by Claudia Gray has a similar feel to that.
The series that starts with "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare I really enjoyed too, it was pretty intense.
I wrote (most) of a novel for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). It's called "The Abandoned" and you can read some of it here:

It's not a series, but I have written several other stories that take place at the same high school (most of them aren't really supernatural, though). I wrote a werewolf story for my year doing Nanowrimo (called "Animal Nature") which I intended to make a series, but since the first one didn't really turn out how I wanted, I haven't gone back to edit it.
I went to a book signing last September in Burlington, MA... I didn't realize there would be about 600 people there, and I was kind of late, so I had to listen from the first floor as Stephenie did a Q&A from the second floor, then wait in a line for about 1 1/2 hours to get my books signed. I was kind of nervous and didn't say much since I was there by myself, but she seemed really nice (especially since she'd already signed books for mot of those people... talk about risk of carpal tunnel!). I got my hardcover of Twilight signed and then a paperback of Twilight & hardcover of Eclipse for my friend. I was in such awe!
Here's a link to my blog entry about it so you can see some pictures.

I actually have a "werewolf mix" (for a story I was writing, not specifically for Jacob), but I think these two songs are pretty good:
Junkie XL - Love Like Razorblade (it's a techno song used in the werewolf movie "Ginger Snaps")
Bush - Mouth (used in the movie "American Werewolf in Paris")
and of course, "Hungry Like the Wolf"!
Clearly the Twilight vampires would win since they have superhuman strength and don't have to sleep or worry about sunlight, crosses, garlic, wooden stakes, etc. But I wouldn't mind Corey Feldman coming into Forks to hunt down some vampires, though... I think Lost Boys II might actually end up being a decent movie, since he's in it!
I also hope Jacob imprints on someone and has a happy ending. I know someone who likes to rile Twilight fans up by suggesting that Edward will sacrifice himself to save Bella... I really hope that doesn't happen!
I have not read the 1st chapter of Breaking Dawn, but looking at the cover makes me want to throw out some theories, like possibly the Volturi will come back and have a problem (like there will be some kind of vampire "queen") with the Cullens turning Bella into a vampire, or maybe the wolf pack will wage war on them since it breaks the treaty (possibly if whereever Jacob ran off to only made him more angry). The cover seems to have more significance than some of the other covers, or at least more that can be interpreted!
I think Bella and Edward will definitely get married, but it is the Turning that I am not sure will happen.
I think Kristin Stewart is perfect for Bella--I've seen her in several movies (like Speak, Into the Wild, In the Land of Women, The Messengers) and she has this awkwardness to her that I think Bella would have, considering she's so clumsy.
I know Bella thinks of herself as "average-looking," but Stephenie Meyer described it as her being average when she lived in Phoenix, but once she moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere, she was new and unusual and therefore attractive to the guys there. I think they have made her look sort of "plain" to be the Hollywood equivalent of "average."
As for Edward... I am not sure. His role in Harry Potter was really too small and confined to show me that he is a good enough actor to pull it off. But then, Anne Rice had an issue with Tom Cruise being cast as the Vampire Lestat, only to take it back after she saw the movie--I wouldn't necessarily have cast Tom Cruise as a vain vampire either, but he fit the role really well. So, Robert Pattinson might surprise us all.
I can't wait to see what Jacob looks like, since he's most likely going to be an unknown actor.
Do you think they're going to make movies of all 4 books?
My name is Kate, and I love this series. I read them all last summer, then went to a Stephenie Meyer signing and only then realized what a phenomenon this is! (There were about 600 people crammed into a B&N). And recently read The Host and loved it, so I now want to re-read the entire series in preparation for Breaking Dawn.
I love books (I'm a librarian) especially anything horror or YA. I'm a fan of werewolf books as well as vampire books, so I hope you'll all forgive me for rooting for the "underdog" in the series (Jacob... get it? I know he and Bella won't end up together, but I really hope he is okay in the end!). I think Blood and Chocolate was the best werewolf book I ever read, and my favorite vampire book (next to Twilight, of course) is The Vampire Armand (as well as the rest of the Vampire Chronicles) by Anne Rice.
