4282 If I remember right, there's a running storyline regarding Kate...it's been ages since I read these but I think it was that as a young woman, she had a potential thing with a guy but he rejected her. So she married someone else, had two kids and then was getting divorced. The other guy comes back into the picture...something really big happens, and it's all left hanging for the upcoming book.

Something like that. So it's a running storyline with a lot of pieces in previous books.

4282 Hmm, I read this one a year and a half ago, but I noted at the end of my review that it would be best for readers to read the other books first, at least the previous one, The Next Mrs Blackthorne.

And just a word of warning, the end of A Stranger's Game is a cliffhanger regarding a supporting character and the next book STILL isn't out yet. But it is scheduled for a late Dec release.

4282 Hmm, good question. Not sure...I have them in Mt TBR waiting to be read, but I don't know how dire they are to the series in general. I know there are a few who have read this series. They should be able to tell you (us).

4282 The ones listed here are all the BC books. I haven't read them, but I think they can be grouped together. Books 1, 2 & 4 are the first bunch. Then 6, 7 & 8 are a trilogy.

Maybe that's what you are thinking of?

4282 Great news from Robyn on her website about the continuation of the VR series! Not only will there be the 2010 trilogies, but also trilogies in 2011 and 2012!! Plus some novellas. Yay! We have lots of VR yet to read!

Here's the newsletter text:

September News from Robyn Carr

I realize you don’t get newsletters from me as often as you should. There are two significant reasons. First — I don’t want to waste your time reporting that I walked the dog, went on a family holiday or gained ten pounds. The second reason is more important — I have a million books to write! And I’ve been working at it — I promise. Based on the number of daily letters I get (and thank you! and keep ‘em coming!) you want to get back to Virgin River!

The community of Virgin River has become much loved by readers, and no one is more grateful than I am. MIRA Books, my publishing company, is also pleased and, after the 2009 Virgin River series spent twelve straight weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List, they wasted no time in planning for more. This thrills me — personally and because I know it’s important to you.

For the next three years, beginning in 2010, every January, February and March, we will release three new Virgin River novels. In addition to that, there will be novellas published that will take place in Virgin River or nearby but don’t have to be read in any sequence; stories that will include your friends but not a part of the ongoing story. The first novella is to be released in September in a story titled "Under the Christmas Tree" in a special Christmas anthology — THAT HOLIDAY FEELING also containing holiday novellas by Debbie Macomber and Sherryl Woods.

But there’s more. Over the next couple of years, there will also be two mainstream novels — what I prefer to call women’s fiction or “girlfriend books,” that are along the line of THE HOUSE ON OLIVE STREET. There is whispering of THE HOUSE ON OLIVE STREET being reissued and I’m crossing my fingers — the complexity of women’s lives and their relationships with their men and each other has always been a passion of mine. And writing stories with ensemble casts of characters is enormous fun.

Next month I’ll put the covers and opening chapters for the 2010 Virgin River novels — FORBIDDEN FALLS, ANGEL’S PEAK and MOONLIGHT ROAD — on my website. For now — the cover of the Christmas anthology will go up, which will be available September 29. I hope you enjoy it — it’s a happy story, filled with love and laughter and a couple of characters who will pop up in future Virgin River novels from time to time.

This has been such a rewarding journey, and so much of it has been because you let me know what characters have inspired you, and helped you with your own issues, and which characters you want to see more often. Of course I can’t fulfill every wish you send my way, but rest assured, I read and consider every one. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Please watch my website for new books, covers and excerpts, and check out the appearances page to see if I’ll be in your neighborhood. I’d love to meet you.

With love and gratitude,

Robyn

4282 I just hope I can remember enough about the last book and the series when this one comes out. It's been so long since the last book.

4282 Hi Debbie, Welcome aboard!

We've got lots of series listed here and some discussions about them, but feel free to start more (check out this post for the best way to format a listing post).

4282 The first book in this series didn't really appeal to me, but I stuck with it and I thought the books got better with each one. I really enjoyed the most recent one a lot.

Rossy - the books aren't parallel (as in occurring at the same time). They take place one after the other timeline wise.
4282 This is what I got off her booklist page:

34. Lord of Shadowhawk, HH, 3.99, (Jan.'92 Trayhern Series, Book I)
38. King of Swords, HH, 3.99 (May '92) Trayhern Series, Book II M

Trayhern is Morgan's last name. According to a summary I found, the last name of the hero in the first book above is Trayhern, and the heroine's last name is Kyle. In the other book, the hero's last name is Kyle, which connects the two.
4282 Mckenna's site says they are connected. They're probably relatives of some sort.

4282 Wendy wrote: "I, of coarse, couldn't find any old copy's. So I will have to wait until 2010 for the next one. :("

Right now you'd probably have a really hard time finding copies of 3 & 4. With the re-release just coming out, everyone is going to want to find copies of the next books. It took me a while to find them cheap enough to afford. I was checking eBay and Amazon used books like twice a day.

4282 I really don't understand the long delays in re-releasing these books. It's pretty much pure scheming on the part of the publisher, in my opinion.

I'm glad I already found copies and read them. Waiting would drive me nuts (sorry, guys!).

4282 :)

I have to pick up a copy for my keeper shelf since the one I read I borrowed from someone last year.

I already have 3 & 4, but just curious, does the end of CH have a date for when the next book will be coming out?

4282 With Phillips, I like the fact that even though her books are lighter, they aren't fluff. I've read some "lighter" books that just seem to have no substance and I get bored. But Phillips books keep me reading.
4282 Yeah, this one was a pain to put together. Fictiondb had a partial list, and the author's website had only a master book list with notes on what was an MM book. So I had to compile them.
