40089 Everyone talks about eating local, but what about reading local? Are you more inclined to pick up a book because the author is Canadian or from your province or hometown? Why or why not?

40089 does anyone here use an e-reader? Which one? What do you like about it? If you don't use an e-reader, why not?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

40089 Joyce Carol Oates was on The Sunday Edition this past weekend to discuss her new memoir, Widow's Story. The book (and interview) are very powerful.

Listen to the interview here.

Has anyone read A Widow's Story? What did you think?

40089 Steven brings up an interesting point. How does everyone feel about the juror resigning over Roth's win? It's pretty scandalous, and there was no requirement that the jury be unanimous. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

40089 A great recommendation, Petra, thanks for sharing!

I've read a lot of books that take place in Toronto, but what about rural Ontario? Anyone have a recommendation for a non-Toronto Ontario read?

40089 Shannon, I concur with Steven. Both Dickner's books are fantastic reads (at least in English, I'd love to hear your take on them in the original French!)

I also loved The Fat Woman Next Door is Pregnant by Michel Tremblay.

40089 Congratulations to author Philip Roth! He won the 2011 Man Booker International Prize. Are you a fan of Roth? What do you think of his win?

For anyone interested, Roth spoke about his life and work with Eleanor Wachtel in 2009. Listen to the conversation here.

Hi Steve! The CBC Books team LOVED The Blue Light Project. Shelagh Rogers talked to Timothy Taylor on a recent episode, if anyone is interested.

40089 On January 10, 1992, a container ship from Hong Kong hit very rough seas just south of the Aleutian Islands, spilling 28,800 bath toys into the choppy water ...

This story became Moby-Duck: The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea and of the Beachcombers, Oceanographers, Environmentalists, and Fools, Including the Author, Who Went in Search of Them by Donovan Hohn. Moby-Duck The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea and of the Beachcombers, Oceanographers, Environmentalists, and Fools, Including the Author, Who Went in Search of Them by Donovan Hohn

The author stopped by CBC's Day 6 to talk about his book. Listen to the interview here.

What do you think? Are you interested in reading this book? Have you read it? If so, what do you think?
