I enjoyed the hell out of Percy Parker. My review is here, but long story short, it was just plain engrossing, and I love how it crosses so many genres.

I've got a teetering stack of articles waiting to be skimmed, and I can't... stop... reading... Soulless...
That's a very interesting gut feeling, Tara, and now I'm curious about it myself. Maybe I'm cynical, but Kiyo is *too* nice sometimes, and I'm suspicious of that, especially in a story like this, where everyone's out to get something from Eugenie.
I picked up Gail Carriger's Soulless yesterday and glanced at the first page in the car. And then kept reading and kept reading... I so don't have time to read for fun right now, but this book is really sucking me in!

I'm trying to read Ann Aguirre's Doubleblind, but I've got so much school-related crap to do right now that I've only had the chance to read maybe seven pages. Argh!
My boyfriend picked up the first season earlier this year and we blasted through it. He caved last week and gave me season 2 as an early birthday present, and now we're blasting through that, heh. I'm not usually a sitcom fan, but this one's so damn smart! And not just the nerdy smart stuff; the writing is very witty and clever, and it doesn't constantly rely on fat jokes and such to be funny. My inner geek is very happy with this series. :DAlso? I want each and every one of Sheldon's and Leonard's t-shirts.
I'll be 30 in two weeks, I read YA, and I'm actually focusing on YA/adolescent literature for my Master's degree. :) I see it the way I see any other genre: there's good stuff and there's bad stuff. The Hunger Games series is amazing, and I'm really enjoying the Vampire Academy series, too. Melissa Marr writes some fantastic teen urban fantasy, as well. The teen angst does get to be a bit much sometimes (I hated most of my own adolescence, so why on earth would I want to relive that constantly? Ha!), but with the right author, it works very well.
Great comment, K! I think that's a big part of why I like Mead's writing so well, both in this series and in the Succubus series. The characters are very multifaceted, and right when you think you've got one of them pinned down, they do something that makes you rethink everything you had figured out about them. I think that's why Dorian appeals to me so much. He very much lives in a grey area; he's not particularly bad, though he does very selfish things and I wouldn't put it past him to do very nasty things, and so he's not particularly good either, though he does good things for Eugenie. He's fascinating.
I'll rename it to warn for spoilers. :)I'm definitely for Eugenie going with Dorian, though I still don't completely trust him. Kiyo... Michelle pretty much nailed it for me. It's great that he wants to be in his baby's life, and I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with his peacemaker attitude. In some circumstances, that would be very appropriate, but after his girlfriend, the freaking Thorn Queen, was kidnapped and raped repeatedly? NO. Get pissed, dude. Go kill someone with your bare hands. And don't you DARE suggest that Eugenie should go play nicey nice with her rapist's family. Ugh. Grow a set, Kiyo.
Hey, everyone! Just a heads-up that I've updated the rules a bit. I added a request to check for existing topics before starting a new one, and to try to limit the use of netspeak and StIcKy CaPs (because I'm a curmudgeon, heh). Thanks!
I'm giving away a fantastic prize pack on my blog! Suzanne Collins's new book, Catching Fire (the sequel to The Hunger Games) is out today, and in celebration, three lucky winners will receive a copy of CATCHING FIRE, a collectible mocking jay pin, and a limited edition t-shirt!

I liked Midnight's Daughter well enough. And really, I want to like the books more, but I get so frustrated when I invest myself in four books and it feels like nothing really happens. People fight, things explode, bad shit happens, but in the end, there were no real advances in the situation.I'll probably keep reading because OMG Mircea. I freaking love Mircea. And I want Cassie to actually, you know, learn from her mistakes and stop doing stupid, impulsive things all the time. I don't expect her to stop it completely because it is part of her personality to leap before looking, but for heaven's sake, you'd think she'd have learned at least a little by now.
I've got a couple of Midnight Syndicate albums. They're very theatrical and atmospheric, good for a gothic read.
I'm reading Patricia Briggs's Hunting Ground. Let's see if I can finish it before I have to start diving into this giant stack of American Antebellum lit for class. o_o
I liked the Cassie Palmer series at first, but the more books I read the more I want to a) smack Cassie over the head for having no common sense whatsoever, and b) throw the book across the room because nothing happened. I got so frustrated with the most recent book because for all the action and running around and all that stuff, the plot moved forward about an inch. :(
