390 Moss, I love the Darkyn series!! It only gets better!

390 I don't normally do these challenges because I know that there's no way I''m going to finish 9 books in a month with all I have going on. However, I'll see if I can't add a few to the group's total this month. So far I've finished three books.

1. Maledicte - Lane Robins
2. Magic Strikes - Ilona Andrews
3. Ink Exchange - Melissa Marr

390 Welcome Rachel! (Both here, and to Kentucky. I live in Louisville.) Prepare for your TBR list to experience a massive growth spurt.

390 I loved The Vampire Diaries! Of course I read them when I was in the 8th grade... Overall, they lack the sophistication, emotional depth, and character development of Meyer's writing.

I did not like the dude they had for Phury. Phury and Zsadist are twins, so they should get someone who looks enough like Wentworth Miller to make it work. I'd recommend Henry Cavill. I've always thought he and Miller looked alike. Also, google Joe Manganiello. He'd be perfect for V.

390 Yeah, it sounds like A Hunger Like No Other to me as well. Lachlain was held for about 250 years, and his imortality keeps bringing him back to life after he's burned over and over and over...

390 @ Jessa - Whew! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this! LOL!

390 Okay, I was a history major. I should be able to come up with something..

How about, "The use and/or distortion of history and mythology in popular contemporary fiction." You could use Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series, Viehl's Darkyn series, Kenyon's Dark Hunters, Cole's Immortals After Dark... Just be sure you pick up a couple actual mythology and medieval history books along with those to complete the illusion...

Or, you could pick up Dracula and a few others, and do, "The changing role/perception of the vampire from history through modern times."

390 Frank's Nightwalkers series is okay, but not one of my favorites. It's a little too sacharine for my personal tastes.

390 There are several dudes in the urban fantasy group who've read Kim Harrison's books and liked them, so they seem to be guy friendly.

390 Ha! I'm currently struggling to keep my "read" list longer than my TBR list. The read list is still winning, but barely.

390 SPOLIER!!!

Michelle, part of me is wondering if they'll even kill him off on the show. They've expanded his character so much, that I'm beginning to wonder if they'll just make up some other random worker at Merlotte's to off. It's not like they haven't been playing fast and loose with the story line already....

390 I have a Borders, a Books-a-Million, a Barnes & Nobel, and a Half Price Books all within a few miles of my house. As I said, I'm lucky. I probably like Borders the best because they are usually the friendliest, and they don't charge for their membership dodad. BAM tends to shelve things oddly. It's always more of a scavenger hunt there.

390 Okay, this Chelsea chick needs to go!! She's spamming all over goodreads!!!

390 Dawn, I think The Vampire's Bride is the fourth book in a series. (Her Atlantis series, I believe.) So, if you haven't read the other three, I don't know that you'd want to start with it. I have all four, but I haven't read them yet.

390 Oz, we had a discussion somewhere on goodreads, about how the quality of Borders varies wildly depending on where you live. Some of them are fantastic, with very knowledgable staff. And others are terrible, and staffed with morons. It sounds like you have one of the latter... (I'm lucky and have several good ones in my home town.)

390 I'd recommend A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Devereaux. It is a romance, but there's a time travel aspect to it. It's one of the first romances I ever read, and I loved it.

390 Nichole, I'm not really a fan of the DH series either. It may just not be for you. It's disappointing really because Kenyon has such an interesting concept going. I really wanted to love the series, but her writing style just gets on my nerves. I've read a couple of her full length books, and a couple of her short stories in anthologies, so I gave it the old college try. I just don't like the way she writes.

390 Mmmmm...... Sabin.....

I love Lords of the Underworld, but The first one (The Darkest Night) was the weakest. I thought the next two were much better. I'm beginning to notice a trend that the first book in a series is the weakest. Seems like it takes a book for the author to really hit their stride.

390 Hi Liz? Have you read any Kresley Cole? If not, then I highly recommend her Immortals After Dark series.

390 Moss, you could always buy the book, and then either donate it to your library, or sell it to a used book store after you've read it. I hate having one book from a series as well. It's annoying!
