That's the idea, Jessica.
Get rid of the old ones, (the ones we keep promising we will read but never got around to), in order to welcome the New Year...meaning more new books...LOL
Mel wrote: "Yz, are re-reads allowed? They are sort of on my physical TBR pile :)"
Hmm...tricky question, Mel. The goal is to make a dent on our TBR pile...so in essence, rereads do not qualify.
However, let's say, when you originally read the book, you didn't own it, but you enjoyed it so much, you went out and bought your own copy. Now you have it at home, but haven't read it yet or reread it yet...then I will consider it as a TBR book...Makes sense?
So using that as guideline...i'll leave it up to your discretion.
Can you believe we are down to our last challenge for the year? To really make a dent on that crazy TBR pile, December's challenge is called TBR Clean-up Challenge. (This was inspired by a similar challenge created by Kasia in our RRRC group.)
Here are the rules:
1. Pick 9 books from your current physical TBR pile (preferably books that have been there for quite some time). Also pick 6 more books as 'alternate' reads just in case.
Unlike previous challenges, once you put up this list, you CANNOT CHANGE it. However, you can drop down to an alternate book, if you really cannot finish a book that you have selected in your original list. Fair enough?
Now, for those who don't have enough books (15 in total) in their current TBR pile, to complete your list (both original and alternate) go to your GR to-be-read shelf, and pick how many more you still need from the first 5 pages of that shelf.
Again, you can post your list anytime you like, but no reading until the 1st of December.
Have fun going through your shelves!
A special request to our dear Moderatrix.
Can you make the Monthly Challenges Leaderboard thread a sticky in the Monthly Challenges folder?
I would really appreciate it if you can.
Finished Desire Unchained, 2nd book in Ione's Demonica series. It's pretty good, and I definitely enjoyed the interaction between the hero and heroine. I was further intrigued with Gem and Keenan's relationship (secondary characters). Would definitely like to read more of this series.

Go to tickerfactory.com and follow the steps, or simply click on anybody's ticker and it will bring you to the site, then you can follow the steps..
Easy enough, right?
Nancey wrote: "Yz, yep think you did start the ticker craze now I want one too:)"
It's pretty easy to get one. If you need help, just let me know.
Lynn wrote: .SHUT UP!!! I love the ticker!! I had to steal it!! I do not know how to post pics of the books I am reading but I can add a ticker, lol!!

I was putting a ticker for a weight-loss challenge in another site, and I realized that I can create one for my challenges too.
Btw, if you want to post book covers, on top of the comment box is the phrase addbook/author, click on it, search your book or author, and then at the bottom chose "cover" instead of "link" and that will give you the book cover.
Hope that helps you.
Debbie,
As much as possible, I encourage everyone to use books that has some paranormal element in it, due to the nature of the group where the challenge is being hosted.
However, I don't really nitpick, so if you want to squeeze in a few non-PNR books, that will not be a problem with me.
Going slow, but finally finished one.

Congratulations to our top readers!
Mel,
Thanks for updating the Leadership Board. I'm going to go ahead and post the top 20 Readers list, since all I have to do is copy and paste my original post and do the necessary changes.
Once again, great job Mel W.
Tonya wrote: "Is there a way to repost without having to type out the whole list again? I tried to copy and paste last month's challenge and that didn't work.
.."
Tonya,
Yes, you can copy and paste your previous post. In order that you keep all your html coding, go to your prevous post, go into edit mode, copy the whole thing, and then that's the one you need to paste.
Do not simply go to the post and copy it, or else it will not bring along the strikeout, bold, etc.
Hope that helps.
I know I don't do the updates anymore, but just to make things easy for Mel, I would just like to post these reminders.
Considering that we have increased in number of participants, I think it will be good to refresh everybody's memories.
REMINDERS:
- Please repost your updated list every time you have a change (especially when you have finished a book). Do not go back and edit your list, because Mel only looks at posts from updates to updates. This will make her task easier, so please help out.
- To signify your official participation, please post the category list, even if its not completely filled out. You are more than free to do changes anytime or fill them out as you go along.
- Put a date or strike out a book title when completed on your official list. Posts saying, for example, I've finished two books so far will not be considered official, unless it is accompanied by your official list.
I hope you guys don't mind following these instructions. We are just trying to keep our challenges organized and fun.
Also if you need help in posting and/or formatting, feel free to ask questions. We are more than happy to assist you.
Happy reading everyone.
