390 Forever Knight Intimations of Mortality this is the Forever Knight book that I was talking about. GREAT story. Especially for those of us with a Nick fetish. :oP
New Moon Movie (44 new)
1 day ago, 04:11PM

390 lol, the time that my "group" picked to go see New Moon seemed to have been as many Moms (maybe even MORE Moms) as teenaged girls. Of course, it WAS 10 am on a Saturday, so most of the girls were probably still sleeping. :o)

And yeah, Dakota WAS creepy. We took a few minutes to figure out WHO she was. She's sure grown up fast, hasn't she? Seems like just yesterday she was playing a little 6 yo on CSI. Oh, wait--that WAS yesterday--it was a repeat. :oP

390 oohhh, that DOES look good Cnor. and yeah, I wonder if its based on a book too. Anyone else remember "Forever Knight" the TV show? In one of the books there was a parallel world that was very similar to this one. There vamps were in the majority, and someone invents a synthetic blood. The vamps started turning everyone after that--except that there was an underground that was trying to protect humans and find a cure for the vampire disease. Was a really neat book. And sounds more than a bit like this movie. The way the book ended was a real cliff hanger, but there was no way for us to go back and find out what happened, since GWD's character had used up the charm tht was allowing him to go back and forth between the 2 worlds.

390 Tina--part of my really big problem with them is that I suffer from motion sickness. For those that aren't aware of it, there are 2 types of motionsickness. One is the "traditional" inner ear problem one. The other is a visual one. I have BOTH types. Which makes for a totally miserable person when traveling, believe me. I can't even read when in a car. So anything that shows the camera spinning around, and around, and around (getting sick just thinking about it) does a horrible number on me. If directors would just cut that out of movies I'd be a lot happier. lol, I know its a minor complaint, but still, if it cuts into my enjoyment, then I have the right to complain, right?

Can't WAIT for the next movie now. I'd been a little unsure about New Moon after those weird angles, making everyone look like they were dieing of some slow illness etc from Twilight (and yeah, I DO have the dvd--well its over at Oz's but it belongs to ME) and have watched it since I saw it at the theatre.) New Moon is one that I'm actually looking FORWARD to reseeing.

390 I have songs pop into my mind at weird times too Mersi. Not that unusal for this day and time--with movies and tv's most of us have private soundtracks running through our minds all the time. Or at least, that's what it seems like sometimes. lol, and usually NOT the same soundtrack either. :o)

390 This movie was head and SHOULDERS about Twilight. My biggest beef with it was--everyone in the theatre when we went said at the end it should be sub-titled "Makes you Hurl." The camera angles were MUCH better, none of those trying to shove the camera up poor Robert's nose or anything--and everyone didn't look like they were dieing of scurvey or something. Only Bella looked annorexic in this one. But those spinning the camera in circles. GAH. There's a reason I don't do cruises, roller coasters, spinning rides etc. I had to close my eyes after about the third circuit in the scene after Edward leaves and Bella is sitting in her bedroom.

Other than that problem (and they did it again, later, btw) I liked this director much better. Only poor old Bella was still being forced (or is that her natural acting style???) to follow the William Shatner School of Acting. All those dramatic pauses. And the quivering lip--and the bunny BUCK TEETH shots.

On the plus side--they really did do a good job of buffing up Jake. And cutting off his hair did a lot to help him look "older" like the wolves were supposed to look.

And yeah, total agreement on the new Rob movie. Hum, actually I think that there were like 3 movies they showed previews for today that I wanted to see. I probably won't get to the theatre to see any of them, but still. . .
Vamp Series (14 new)

390 if you want some humour with your vamps, try I'm the Vampire, That's Why and the rest of the Broken Heart novels.

390 ok, a REAL tear jerker is The Ship Who Searched. Right at the beginning. I've read it about 8 or 9 times. And I ALWAYS cry.
2 days ago, 04:42PM

390 Ok, technically its scifi and NOT PNR--but my new "fav man" is Simeon from The City Who Fought. Ok, its a little difficult to DO anything with him (he's a "shellperson") but he's still funny, witty, charming and able.

390 ok, I agree--it DOES look like a palm tree.

390 Amelia--um, where are the door knobs? If they are at my in-laws, then they are really great (220+ year old house, with crystal and porcelain doorknobs). If, on the other hand you are talking about the ones in MY house, well, that's really boring. Just plain old brass coloured ones here.

I haven't read it yet, but Oz is reading it now. She seems to like what she's read so far. I thought the IDEA was interesting, when she told me what it was about.

390 I think part of the "rushed" feeling we are getting is that they are trying to compress events that took 3 or 4 episodes of the original into 1 hour of this one.
New Moon Movie (44 new)

390 Nope, not going to re-read it myself. I figure that its been long enough (just over a year) since I read it and things are getting a little fuzzy, so hopefully that will mean that I don't cringe quite as much when they change things.

390 Danielle, they are posting the shows on their web-site, supposedly so you can check there to watch it.

5 days ago, 05:09PM

390 wow--don't get on line all day and you guys go a bit nuts on me. FOURTY posts today? Well, since midnight last night, anyway.

And Cade IS Yummy. After all, as my heroine Nix says, "Yummy, lickalisious horns." Lol, and I don't remember which of the 2 brothers it is, but she pouts at one point and tells them, "You should have let me lick your horns," when they try to get her to tell them something (not telling, so no spoilers) that they want to know.

390 are we all gearing up for the release on Friday of the newest Twilight movie? Oz and I are planning on heading over on Sat. morning to see it. We are doing a "girl's morning out" with friends.
7 days ago, 02:24PM

390 Ok, New Moon was a definate tear jerker. And, one that I re-read regularily (and, even after 40 years, STILL cry at the ending) is The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress. My very first crush was on Mike (one of the main "characters" in this book. Even if he WAS a computer) which is why I LOVED R2D2 and C3PO in SWs. :o) The most recent thing that I cried my eyes out over was a movie tho. It was "Taking Chance" a movie starring Kevin Bacon. We never got to actually "See" Chance until the very end of the movie, during the credits, when the Phelps family allowed some of their home movies of Chance at different ages to be shown. I remember my Dad pulling "Escort" duty once. Maybe that's why I cry with it, because what Dad when through was NOTHING like what happened with Chance. But then again--it WAS Vietnam, and the climate in this country was so different.

I also cried while reading The Ship Who Sang and again during Moreta's Ride Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern / Nerilka's Story.

390 (whinning) Come on I want reviews of books. How am I supposed to find more books with no review? (pout, pout, pout.) :oP

390 to strike through characters, use <x> (where the X is an s) to start it, then when you reach the end its </x> (again, where the x is replaced by an s.) To find the other things you can do, click on the "Some Html is ok" link right hand side above the comment box.
