390 Oh, Yz, you are psychic or something! I was totally thinking to myself that I was not going to do the December challenges because I want to get caught up on the Anita Blake series. I have owned these books for two years and have bought each new paperback during that time. I finally started the series in October and decided that I would get all caught up before the year ended. I have 9 books left to be read! How weird that it fits this challenge exactly!? (cue Twilight Zone music)

0/9 Completed
Blue Moon by Laurell K. Hamilton
Obsidian Butterfly by Laurell K. Hamilton
Narcissus in Chains by Laurell K. Hamilton
Cerulean Sins by Laurell K. Hamilton
Incubus Dreams by Laurell K. Hamilton
Micah by Laurell K. Hamilton
Danse Macabre by Laurell K. Hamilton
The Harlequin by Laurell K. Hamilton
Blood Noir by Laurell K. Hamilton

In case I get sick of Anita Blake:
White Witch, Black Curse by Kim Harrison
White Star by Elizabeth Vaughan
Beg For Mercy by Toni Andrews
Wanderlust by Ann Aguirre
A Dangerous Man A Novel by Charlie Huston

390 No, it's not all a dream! That was funny! It's been awhile since I've read the first book, so maybe I'm forgetting if it took me some adjustment time as well. I have never been bothered by first person so that didn't make me hesitate. I enjoyed the male point of view it's written from. I think it's the latest book that has the writing switching back and forth between Cal and Niko and I think the author did a good job with that, too. By the way, the author, Rob Thurman, is actually a woman.

390 @ Tara, DarkHeart, Shannon, New User:
I LOVE Rob Thurman's Cal Leandro series. I never thought the brother's relationship was creepy. There is so much action in the books, they are hard to put down. There's plenty of laughs and bits of romance. It's a cool world and I always grab the latest book and read it immediately. The books are great UF. Just my 2 cents!

390 I am reading Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper and LOVING it. So, so funny. It's refreshing to come at the vampire thing a bit differently. I am ordering book 2 and preordering book 3 tonight. So glad she's been quick to release her books.

Oh! I totally agree with you on MacAlister's Dark One's series. Unfortunately, they go down hill at the point you are at. She even went so far as to have an open ending/to be continued at the end of Zen and the Art of Vampires. I've actually decided not to continue the series because of the last few have been horrible compared to the beginning of this series.

390 I've read the first three and enjoyed them while reading them and then they go right out of my head. Not sure why I can't seem to retain plot lines, but I just can't. It makes reading each new release a bit difficult, but I eventually get reminders and get back into the books. It's definitely YA. Not all YA reads like it, but these do. I'll keep reading the series though. By the way, I hate Mimi and Jack needs to get over himself, but I still go back for more.

390 I believe it is a compilation of the Sookie Stackhouse short stories that have already been published separately in other anthologies. A Touch of Dead

I read this a few days ago. She kept me guessing! Sad it's the end, but I enjoyed all the books in the series.

I'm caught up in that series too, and it's like she tried to get serious with the storyline. Not the type of series I look to for serious.

390 Just read Before Midnight A Retelling of "Cinderella" by Cameron Dokey last night. Stayed up WAY to late because it was short and I couldn't put it down. I cried my eyes out several times. It's really just the Cinderella story with a few twists, but man, I was crying like a baby. It was an excellent book. Dokey is so poetic and magical sometimes.

390 I'm reading Hunter's Moon by C.T. Adams. I'm REALLY struggling with whether or not I'm going to finish it. It started out fine, but it's getting worse by the page! It's getting too cheesy for me and the descriptions of smells are annoying now that they have been repeated over and over. The character interaction is getting ridiculous. Anyone else read this or the series? Does it get better? Should I stick it out or give up?

390 I love the series and admit to taking my time getting into the first book, but over all, I liked it a lot. I'm caught up on the series and loved the third book the most. I can see how readers had a hard time, but I do read A LOT of urban fantasy and paranormal romance so I did not struggle too much with "getting" the world that the author was creating. I love fantasy, too, but have not read as much of that as I have of urban fantasy. I think the more of this type of book you read, the easier it is to understand each authors world. There are a lot of common factors in most UF, but Andrews stretched them and it was actually really refreshing for me.

390 OH, Mrs.soule!!!!!!! I LOVE Avery Cates!!!!!! I hope you fall for him like I did! Lucky you to have three books in that series out already! I read Electric Church when it was a new release and have had to cool my heels waiting for each new book as they came out. I'll be checking back to see how you like it!

390 Laura, they totally make me giggly, too!!!! I am so NOT the giggly type, but boy do I love the chemistry between these two. The third book was the best and I, too, am looking forward to the next book. I think these are great for any genre reader.
