Firefly comics (14 new)

390 I never really got into comics. If I'm a huge fan, I'll read them, and if I find them, I'll read them, but I never go out of my way to get them.

I did find two 1993 Star Trek comics at my grandma's house. She was telling me how she had kept comics from when they were still 10 cents each--I asked her if she still had them, and she gave them away to some kid. Nooooo, right? D:

390 I've just won Evermore by Alyson Noel, but I haven't recieved it yet.

390 Thanks you guys.

I figured about the audiobooks, but I can't stand them anyway. (Somehow, I always fall asleep. The only one I could bear is Lolita, with Jeremy Irons reading, and I love his voice. xD)

390 This is exciting! I've never participated in a book challenge before. Have a question though, can these be rereads? I'm going to assume it's books I have never read before.

1. vampires: Charlaine Harris's Definitely Dead.
2. werewolves: Lori Handeland's Hunter's Moon.
3. shifters: Rachel Vincent's Prey. 07/09/09.
4. gods/immortals: Juliet Marillier's Child of the Prophecy.
5. demons/angels: Rob Thurman's Madhouse.
6. witches/mages: Anne Bishop's Daughter of the Blood.
7. fae/fairies: Holly Black's Ironside.
8. aliens/space: Robert A. Heinlein's The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.
9. humans with paranormal abilities: Rachel Caine's Heat Stroke. 07/07/09.

390 Speaking of Maryann, I absolutely loved the whole everyone-dancing-at-the-bar scene.

To tell you the truth, I like it more this way. But I'm more wondering what they will do in the future, when Bill really starts becoming deadbeat in the books.

390 I can imagine this happening: when Sookie finds herself infiltrating the church, she and Jason would bump into each other, and they'd each say to one another, "What are you doing here!?"

But you know, I also think that when Sookie gets captured and locked in the basement, Jason will have to choose between helping her and helping the church. Something like Michelle said.

I guess it depends on what you like. I watched CHiPs when I was a kid, and I was excited to hear that they were making a movie--especially with Fez from That 70's Show being Ponch.

I am disappointed about all the horror movie remakes--I did like Rob Zombie's Halloween, and I did enjoy Friday the 13th, but they're still coming out with more and more. No one better ruin Freddy Krueger.

Anyway. Yum, Eric.

390 Oh my god, I watched Star Trek for the first time last night. It was sooooo amazing. I cried at the beginning. xD And then I felt like crying at the end, because it was over.

390 I meant, why did they bother to cut it for the second season? In the first episode it was long--maybe something happened to make him cut it? Like going to Texas? xD

I'm so sad it's cut though.

390 Oh! LOL! I totally missed that post. Sorry. xD

I wonder why, in the first episode, Eric's hair was long (and being highlighted or something), but was cut for later episodes, as shown in the trailers. D:

390 I just finished The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein. It's about a bounty hunter named Anna who was assaulted and turned into vampire. Because, Donaldson, the man who turned her, captured a human friend of hers, she hunts to save her friend and kill Donaldson. It's okay, I'll continue reading the series.

390 Oh yeah, you're right. Then HBO just made an accuracy error. They're to blame! D: That's frustrating.

Oh you know what, if what you're saying is true (which I don't doubt you, I'm just saying), then it may be that HBO just made an accuracy error, and no one will notice except for those who actually have studied mythology (like you).

I don't remember Harris' actual books saying anything about Pan or Bacchus, just that Maryann was a maenad. In TV Guide, they said that Maryann was a maenad without mentioning anything in relation to Pan or Bacchus.

So I think it's just HBO's fault by mixing Pan and Bacchus up, whether intentionally or not.

And I don't remember what e01 said, but it didn't seem to imply that Maryann was a follower of Pan, just that she had a pretty Pan art backdrop. But then again, I have to watch the episode again.

390 I'm so glad that Jessica wasn't annoying! I absolutely hated her in season one and hoped she'd get staked, but after seeing her when Sookie talked to her, I'm glad she didn't act annoying. I'm looking forward to what they do with her.

You know what's funny, I think everybody started watching that way. You're the 5th person I've heard say that. My dad watched it when it started, and I watched it when I was little up to Enterprise.

I haven't seen the movie yet though, and I really want to see Scottie.

390 Nice thread title, aye? As unoriginal as it gets.

I actually wrote several reviews for many books in the past week. If you like them, voting would be nice because I want to know if they're actual useful and/or appreciated.

Read for Bite, the five story anthology featuring Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, and three other obscure and less-than-awesome authors (at least in my opinion).

Read for The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy. It's paranormal chick-lit. This review actually sounds a little like an English paper, so please forgive the transition sentences. xD

Two reviews for books by Ann Aguirre. This for Grimspace and this for Blue Diablo.

The two books in Jeri Smith-Ready's vampire series: Here for Wicked Game and here for Bad to the Bone.

My review for Hunter's Moon: here.

390 I loved both Grimspace and Blue Diablo. I love her protagonists' voices--independent, kick ass women.

But I thought there were a couple of flaws with Grimspace, though I loved it. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read it, but did anyone else feel disappointed about Baby-Z? And then I felt the bounty hunter was introduced way too late.

390 **spoiler alert (s02e01)**

I'm confused, what what, Ann?

I think she's still a maenad. I have the most current issue of TV Guide with True Blood on the cover, and Maryann is described as a maenad.

The first episode of the second created more questions than answered them! D: I'm so glad the person who died isn't the person everybody thought it would be though.

390 Ann wrote: "actually Nozo--there IS a Tara in the books--but she's not a "mad black woman". She's one of Sookie's oldest friends in the books."

Thanks! C: I actually just learned about her existance in the books--I just finished Living Dead in Dallas where she's first introduced.

I know there will be slight and major differences between the books and the TV series, but from the way things are looking, the whole TV series is based on a slight mixture of all the books (though season one is mainly Dead Until Dark), am I right?

390 Yay, season two starts June 14, 2009! It's way too far away. D:

I spent my whole day watching the first season of True Blood and finished it today. It took me a while to get used to their fangs, which to me, are in the wrong spot. -shrugs- Bill was old looking to me at first, but now I like him. I also like Tara, though she's not in the books.
