Thanks! I was laughing my head off last night reading about Raymond teaching the girls to fight and ending up an example... that was a hoot!

I want more books like this, Medieval Historical Romance... more English than Scotish, but that would be ok as well.

390 It's not PNR, though there is mention of witches, but I'm reading Christina Dodd's
Castles in the Air Castles in the Air and it's actually pretty good. This is true historical romance which is not something I've ever fully read. This takes place in about... I want to say 1100.... so it's REALLY historical. LOL

I picked this one up because I want to start her PNR series and thought I'd get a taste of her style first.

Thanks, Dark Heart. I thought that might be it, but people have been posting about another books called Tempted, so I wasn't sure.

Which series, Louise?

I loved The Host. It was much better than her Twilight Series, IMHO, and I was thrilled to learn they are making a movie out of the book. Which I hope is done better than Twilight was.

390 I just finished Deeper Deeper by Megan Hart. How do I feel about the book? I'm not sure... I keep asking myself, what was the point?

390 I've got 2 books going, but the PNR I am reading is Deeper by Megan Hart. Very different type of PNR so far and the jury is still out on whether or not I like it. I will say this though, it has me intrigued.

390 I feel like they really have to absorb the culture in which they live. Would they go into ZeroSum and ask the waitress for a tankard of ale? I know there is much, much more than just ordering a drink, but their use of words never bothered me in that sense and I just expect them to fit in as best they can.

I'm really looking forward to Shades of Midnight coming out in December!

390 You might consider Lara Adrian's Midnight Breeds series. Another good one is Lynn Viehl's Darkyn series. I really enjoyed both of those and I'm die-hard BDB fan.

I think they are similar in some way to BDB but differ in tone a bit. I think they are lighter though I think Feehan Fanatics will say the opposite LOL. I really loved her Drake Sisters Series (Witches for lack of a better word). Those 7 books were hard to put down till I was finished :)

I like her writing. I LOVE the Ghostwalker series and the latest Leopard book, Burning Wild was awesome... and Hhhhhhhhhhot!

You can't really compare her to the WARDen. They are 2 different worlds, but both very good. I finally broke down and bought Dark Slayer in hardcover from bookdepository.com. I've never purchased from them before, but I hear good things. *fingers crossed* Hmmm... I just had a though...I wonder if the book will come US version or UK version?

390 I really like the Carpathians, but some people don't. The series isn't quite as... edgy or intense, but it's still good. No, I changed my mind. Some of the stories are very intense, very dark and well written, in my opinion. Keep in mind, as with all series', some people like them and some don't. It's all a matter of taste.

I find some of it very funny. My favorite parts are when the women won't just do whatever the men tell them to do and the men are fit to be tied. It's also funny to watch the unmated males making fun of how 'whipped' the mated males are and then watch THEM get their Lifemates and go through the same 'whipping' process.

I've heard people say they didn't like the first book, Dark Prince , but I did which is saying a lot because I ususally don't really enjoy the first book in any series as much as I do the following books.

Early on in the series it got a little repetitive, but Feehan has made changes recently to give the females a bigger, more important role in saving the Carpathian race. And in some ways that is funny because the males are having problems coping with the women doing anything more than waiting home in bed for them. Yes, there is sex in the books. Some people say it's too flowery, etc... it doesn't bother me.

Try the first couple books and see what you think. They are definitely on my "Always Buy" list.

Here is the reading order:

Dark Prince
Dark Desire
Dark Gold
Dark Magic
Dark Challenge
Dark Fire
Dark Dream (After Twilight anthology)
Dark Legend
Dark Guardian
Dark Symphony
Dark Descent (The Only One anthology)
Dark Melody
Dark Destiny
Dark Hunger (Hot Blooded anthology)
Dark Secret
Dark Demon
Dark Celebration
Dark Possession
Dark Curse
Dark Slayer (newest release)

390 Christine Feehan has done this with the female Lifemates to her Carpathians. Each has some talent she can bring to the table to help fight the war against the vampires (the bad guys) and it works well. Makes the women seem more... real somehow.

I agree with you here, except that I wish she would ease up on them and revisit some of the other couples that had their stories previously. Less Jules to make room for more Stan and Terri or Mike and Savannah (I think thats correct but this is my first post of the day so anything is possible. LOL I'd love to know how the others are doing, too.

390 So are we talking about Hill's Vampire Queen's Servant?

Is this the book you mean? The Vampire Queen's Servant If so, I'd like to know as well. I've thought about picking them up but they are not cheap.

390 I don't know if this is PNR or not, but my daughter loves C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series. The final book came out today.

The books are:

1. Lord of the Fading Lands
2. Lady of Light and Shadows
3. King of Sword and Sky
4. Queen of Song and Souls
