3579 Hi Douglas -

I like Michael Craft as well. You might like Anthony Bidulka's books featuring Saskatchewan
P I Russell Quant as a mystery series.

3579 I liked Savage's Skipping Towards Gomorrah, which wasn't particularly "gay".

3579 Funny you should mention Sondheim, Ivan - I actually liked his non-musical murder mystery, though it got not-so-hot reviews.

3579 Hey, Alaina - you'd love Marc Acito's How I Paid for College and its sequel!

3579 Not long ago I read Born on a Blue Day, a memoir by Asperger's savant Daniel Tammet, who's quite matter-of-fact about being gay. The style wasn't perhaps the most "nuanced", shall we say, but he does a terrific job of explaining being "different".
GLBT-themed Film (75 new)

3579 I just finished watching a film called "House of Adam", billed as a thriller. By the time it ended, I assumed the cheesy acting, and dialogue were because it was a camp spoof. However ... I watched the out-takes afterwards, and it was honestly intended as a film to be taken seriously! Has anyone else seen it? My mind is still boggling!

3579 I would like further information on how copyright doesn't applies here.

3579 It's not new - I saw it at least 10 years ago; I liked it a lot

3579 I don't believe anyone's mentioned the Italian-Turkish film "Steam" yet?

3579 I'll give it a shot - only other Irving I've read (which I liked) was A Son of the Circus, which had a gay aspect as well.

3579 Thanks - I often suffer from plot amnesia shortly after finishing a book. Doesn't mean I didn't like it, but happens.

3579 I read it a few months ago, but recall very little of the actual plot; I don't remember a gay "angle" to this book at all? I liked it, and plan on reading the author's other novel Blue.
Abortion (17 new)

3579 From Katha Pollit in The Nation:

" ... and Andrew Sullivan, who knows as much about women's reproductive lives as I know about soliciting bareback sex on the Internet."

He must really be notorious for that activity!

3579 Ted - I can try, but it was a library book that I've returned, so not sure I can do so very effectively without a copy of the book to refer to?

3579 I wanted to mention that I read Boys to Men recently, finding it quite well done (for an anthology). I'd like to see the book on being half of a pair of gay twins that Michael Gardner says he's working on (no, not for salacious reasons!).

3579 Jon,

You might want to check out the YA novel Vintage by Steve Berman, about a gay teen haunted the ghost of another gay teen.

3579 I just finished Death of a Pirate King by Josh Lanyon - the 4th in his Adrien English murder mystery series. It's definitely better than the 2nd and 3rd ones, but the series has to be read in order for context.
Gay humor (4 new)

3579 I recommend Joel Perry's That's Why They're in Cages People!; I read his first book Funny That way a while ago, but don't recall any details, so didn't rate it.

Welcome - I've read Phillip Scott's gay murder mysteries set in Australia (largely Sydney).

3579 I recently finished listening to Marc Acito's Attack of the Theater People, which made a good sequel, but I strongly suggest reading How I Paid for College first for context. Jeff Woodman does a terrific job narrating both.
