I loved Graceling. The characters were awesome, the writing was good, it had a compelling plot … Over all, it was just great. :) I'm waiting for my friend to finish reading Fire so I can borrow it from her. Haha. :D

It didn't bother me. I thought it was tastefully done, and I think if a younger kid read it it would totally go over his/her head. In general, sex in YA books doesn't bother me. I mean, it's a part of life, right? I don't really like YA books that are all about sex, but I thought that in this case it was written in a way that seemed more romantic than disgusting.

Yeah, I think he's writing a second series. I'll miss the Percy Jackson characters :( but hopefully the new series will be good. :)
Awww, that's too bad. Scott Westerfeld is one of my favorite authors. I'm reading Leviathan right now. :)
Angie wrote: "What do you guys think of the character's names? I read that the author couldn't really decide whether or not to keep the name Sam for the werewolf. This is what she had to say about it:"Well, I ..."
That's really interesting. I agree … when a name is right for a character, that's just the character's name. It can't be changed. It's sort of weird, how when you find the right name it just sort of "clicks". Like, you might find other names that you like, but there's only one name that's right for the character.
I loved this book, for the most part. I thought it was an interesting idea, what with the werewolves not being the "typical" werewolves. I thought Sam was a somewhat better-developed character than Grace, and I thought the relationship between them was a little too perfect – I was waiting for them to have some big argument or something, and they never did. But I thought they were both likable, as characters. And I love Maggie Stiefvater's writing style; it's really pretty. :) Cute story, very enjoyable.I see how a lot of you are comparing it to Twilight, and I really don't see why. How come every teen book nowadays has to be compared to Twilight? It annoys me. Sure, it had werewolves in it and it was a paranormal romance, yada yada. But I didn't think it was much like Twilight at all. The characters and the narration were much more interesting, and there were many details that I thought were very original.
I thought it was a really sweet story. Sometimes I was a little like ... could they get mad at each other once? So yeah, it seemed a little too perfect at times. But I loved the characters and the writing style. Oh, and the cover was really cool. And is it just my imagination, or is it written in navy blue?? While I was reading it I kept staring at the print and wondering if I was just going crazy. lol :D
I love Graceling too! Ack, can't wait for Fire :DI also have a friend who read Eyes Like Stars. I forget what she told me about it. lol. But it sounds cool, so I think I'll read it. :)
The last book I read was Going Bovine by Libba Bray. It was really good. Kinda bizarre, but I loved it. :]
I know what you mean. The end of the Lightning Thief didn't make me feel like I was dying to read more. But after I started the second book, I was hooked. In my opinion, each book in the series is better than the last.
I wholeheartedly disagree. Well, I do agree about Clary – she's pretty annoying. But I adore the other characters and watching them develop throughout the series. Yes, the series has a lot of typical fantasy elements, but it's not like it's entirely like any other book. While parts aren't completely original, I find the series very unique as a whole.
I don't think that they're poorly-written either. Unlike a lot of YA authors, Cassandra Clare had me hanging onto every last word – and I'm the kind of reader who tends to skim. Sometimes her word choice is a little awkward, but I like a lot of her descriptions. And the dialogue is really funny.
I didn't think reading this book was a waste of my time. In fact, I've read the entire series three times. No, they're not "deep", but they're a lot of fun to read.
