Okay, and I have to ask: do you think it's supposed to be a double meaning on the pen being such a powerful weapon - ie, the written word? Probably not. Probably I'm reading into it - either way, it's a hilarious little skit!! :D
Emm - MOST interesting! Looks like liberties have been taken, but it also looks like those liberties may be keeping with the modern-flavor of the books. That said, it does look "darker" than the initial book, but that could be because the book's humor wouldn't translate too well? I'm quite curious to see the finished product! :D
I was embarrassed how much I needed the summary of the first book when I started reading the second... :\
Oh that is a bummer! But, at least you got to see some of the set pieces and props. I always find that so fascinating!! I had far too much fun in Disney World, analyzing the Barbossa costume from Pirates, a Storm Trooper Star Wars suit, or some props and costumes from Narnia. But, the closest I've gotten to anything like that for HP is buying things from the Noble Collection, lol!!
Oh cool. It's still similar, so why not! :) I really appreciate everyone's insights - quite helpful. :)

Don't read the article if you're planning on going and don't want some ***SPOILERS**..."I'm SO envious, Jenny! I'm glad that the exhibit was good though, nice to have someone who's been there report on it. Maybe I'll still get to one at some point:)

Yeah, I hope I can read the chat (not sure I'll have time to participate) but hopefully it'll be interesting.
I have yet to listen to Jim Dale's Harry Potter narration, but he did a fantastic job narrating Around the World in 80 Days. I think he suited the story very well.I've also been impressed with the full cast recording of the first two Airborn books.
Regarding the expensive-ness of audio books, I agree, it's quite distressing and rather frustrating. I also get mine from the library (and thankfully we do have the inter-library loan, which gives me a much better chance of getting my hands on one), but I also saw that you can download them from places like Amazon (I think) and iTunes. Most of the time, it's just as expensive, but sometimes you can find some great deals - I got my copy of Airborn from iTunes fo $9.99!!! Don't know how it happened, but I snatched it up when I had the chance!! The frustrating bit is that the tracks are SUPER long, so it's difficult to find your place, but for the savings, it's almost worth it.
I saw this notice for an online chat with Christopher Paolini and Terry Brooks. The chat takes place on Oct. 14 2009

They aren't YA, but I recently started They Came to Baghdad by Agatha Christie and Her Royal Spyness.
I agree, Harry Potter for one. I might also suggest Airborn as there is a strong female secondary character, and the male protagonist is pretty introspective. Or, if you prefer, I loved Larklight A Rousing Tale of Dauntless Pluck in the Farthest Reaches of Space, too. You might appreciate Art's observations about his sister (quite hilarious!)
Kate, thanks! I always loved the Twelve Dancing Princesses, so maybe this would be a good book for me to start with! (and yes, I enjoyed MERLIN as well - can hardly wait for the new season... it is quite refreshing to have something different to watch :> )

Melyssa wrote: "I like the whole being a daughter or son of a god twist. I think it makes the story more exciting."I agree, Melyssa. I though it was a unique take to the hero-quest YA books. Brought a different set of "rules" for the world. ;>
