I Agree :P What are your thoughts, Angie?
Hello everyone,
So I just finished the first book
and I'm currently reading the second
Has anyone else read this series?
For anyone one who hasn't- it's a children's fiction which similarily to Percy Jackson, incorperates greek myth with modern day society.
I very much enjoyed the first book but found it a lot slower than the second book so far.
I wouldn't say I love it as much as Percy Jackson but I am trying to suspend comparison- and I like it very much in it's own right.
Heather wrote: "To Sara, asking an author to shed light on an inconsistancy in their book is not unreasonable. Anyone who puts their "work" out there should accept scrutiny as part of the package. I didn't realiz..."
It wasn't unreasonable that you asked a question. However, you didn't seem satisfied even though she -had- provided you with an answer. That, in my opinion, is a little unreasonable. You have the right to your own opinion. You do.I just for one, disagree with them. And second, disagree with your approach.
It's bound to happen. No hard feelings, happy reading.
Maggie wrote: "Heather wrote: "My question about Sam and Shelby should have an answer, if not in the book, then on this thread"
Well, but I did answer the plot question, though -- I didn't mean by my other comme..."
Aww, Maggie, you have been very clear. Don't bother with people who after you have been kind enough to come an answer a question that they still seem to pester on about nothing. Shiver was brilliant. You will never be able to please everyone but please do remind yourself of all of the people who absolutely loved it. I'd hate for you to feel down about a sour reviewer.
Shiver was by far one of the best books I have read this year. Keep up the amazing work!
Suzie wrote: "Maggie wrote: I can see why you would say this, but the whole point to Sam was what Beck said -- that he was the "best of the pack" -- in that he managed to retain a shred of his humanity as a wolf..."
I agree with your comments, Suzie and on a personal note I believe Heather needs to rethink a few things. =)
I LOVED Lament. Looking forward to getting my hands on Ballad- whenever I can find it in a Canadian store! It should be out...we don't usually get books any later...I don't get it lol :P
I'amber wrote: "Lol, I can't wait till Linger."
Me too, I seriously hope it will be just as good or nearly as good. Thats the problem with loving a book so much- you expect a great deal from the second. So I'm both excited but also nervous. I have faith in Maggie though. =)

Another series I've quite enjoyed was the "Larklight" series by Philip Reeve. The main character is... I think 12 when the book starts, and h..."
I agree with many of these recommendations =)

hahaha, this made me laugh. I like your points.

Hello Ann! Seems like we have a similar taste. I am thrilled you enjoyed them! And it's sad they aren't more popular.
I'm *nearly* done the first.
And I agree, the characters are very endearing!
Angie wrote: "I have not read this book so far but it sounds good. So now it is on my TBR pile! "
Oh good! I think it's a really fun read so far.=)
I'm halfway through Larklight, which is written by Philip Reeve and illustrated throughout by David Wyatt.
I love it so far and it is the first of three books.
It's rather creative, funny and an exciting romp through space. It's set in an alternate victorian era.
It's wonderful so far!
Has anyone read this book?
Or plans to?

Haha like Annabeth! (percy jackson series) Nice!
Welcome to the group, it's a great place.
Laurel wrote: "Hello. I'm very excited to have found this group. I am a baker by day and writer of YA by night. Can't wait to discuss the books that no other adult around me reads."
Hello! I'm also a YA writer on my spare time. (Working at a vet clinic, a full-time student in univeristy and I'm involved in hockey and ballet! ahh... very little spare time to come by- but I try)
Welcome to the group Laurel!
To all who are interested in second series,
This was also listed by Rick Riordan (on his blog)
"As I've been announcing on tour however, the end is not really the end. When you read the conclusion of The Last Olympian, you will probably get that sense. The more I write about Camp Half-Blood, the more I realize how much there is to tell -- gods and monsters I've never discussed, the life at camp (which Percy hardly ever gets to experience) and so many other characters who don't get their moment in the spotlight. In late 2010, I will be launching the second Camp Half-Blood series. I've already gotten a flood of emails from fans pleading for details, but I can't tell you much yet. It will feature a new generation of demigods, ready to take on a new prophecy. You may see Percy, Annabeth and the rest of the gang from the first series, but they will not be the main characters. Again, read the ending of the Last Olympian and you will get some clues what I mean. I'm afraid the rest of the details are secret for now -- no character names, no titles, no hints. Sorry! I will probably post more on my website in the fall."

Really Brigid? Where did you hear that? Haha im only going on what is on his official site.

I never read he said percy wont be in it.
I think Percy's story is told, so he wont have a main role at all. (Which I rather, I dont like when a favourite character's story is pushed to far just for the sake of continuing) Anyway, favourite characters ARE to reappear. He said so on his site. In the contact section.
Susan wrote: "How many are in the series? I really enjoyed the first one, I here they are making a movie out of it."
There are five books total in the series. He is planning another series set in the same world but that is just in early planning stages. Yep, there is a movie! I'm excited.
