I am very excited!!! My Lit. class is reading the Hunger Games, and I told my teacher I had already read it, so she is letting me read Catching Fire instead!
Um... the 39 clues are good, but really easy reads. You will probably breeze through them, but they are entertaining enough. Maybe not as good as Percy though...
Do not read this if you have not read the last book in the series! SPOILERS: I just finished the last book, and was a little dissapointed. I was very mad that Percy didn't end up being the hero of the prophecy! They built it up for it to be him, and then, the battle was over! I was also upset that the whole book was spent around the battle and them defending New York. I had thought, they could not possibly make this the whole book, and then they did. Personally, I just thought the first books in the series were better.
If you have not seen the 6th movie yet, do not read this. The 6th movie was probably the best one so far. It seemed like it wasn't just about fighting Voldemort, it was about their own lives and relationships too. In the previous movie, Harry was just so angry and bitter. I can understand that the movie was rated PG, but the scene at the lake was a little intense. They definately downplayed Snape being the half-blood prince, and they even threw in some stuff that wasnt in the book, like the burrow burning down. But, all in all, I think the movie was great, and yes, I was one of those people who went to see it at midnight when it came out, and I will be doing the same thing with the next one..... or two! The Deathly Hallows had better be as good as The Half Blood Prince.
I normally read a good 6-8 books a month. Sometimes I will fall behind when I am very busy and have little time to read. My average library trip usually brings me home with about 6 new books I must read in the next two weeks, so I tend to read fairly quickly. I have trouble savoring my books, becuase I SO BADLY want to know what is going to happen next! It annoys me sometimes, because there are so many books out there, that I don't want to reread the ones I have already read, but I read so much, I forgot what happened in a good many of them!
I plan to read:
Lock and Key
The Cat who Smelled a Rat (currently reading)
The Sword Thief (39 clues book 3)
Beyond the Grave (39 clues book 4)
Crank (if I can get it from the library)
My Gal Sunday
When I finish these, hopefully some others! I don't have any others planned to read right now!
First I begin by going to the bookstore. I create a list of about twenty books. Then, when I go to the library, I bring my list, and search on the computer. I usually only find a couple of the ones on my list, so I get those. Then I go downstairs to the young adult section and I choose a row to look on, and a shelf, and then I choose the best looking book on that row and shelf. My method is pretty random, but I have found a lot of good books this way!
I choose books that have a good author, friends have said are good, or ones that have good summarys on the back. I usually tend to read YA fiction.
I will read:
Max
The Last Olympian
My Gal Sunday
Shoot the moon
Snow Falling on Cedars
The Cat Who Smelled a Rat
...And probably others
I am not sure of my average reading rate, but I read the last Harry Potter book in a day, which is about... 759 pages. Normally I don't read that much, but I was on vacation and was just relaxing with a good book. I love to read, but I am still in school, and only have time to read at night. I also do camps over the summer, so I don't have much reading time then either. I can read anywhere from 50 to 200 pages at night (night starting at 8) depending on how late I stay up.
I have just finished the first two books, and I am planning on getting the next two from my library!
"That's not true," Eleni replied. "Each person on board has a job to do.
"Except you," Akseli muttered angry now. He narrowed his eyes. "we started on this voyage late because of staying at Lagnas those extra days, didn't we? While your mother was dying? And then we had to linger off Inkoo until your father could rescue you from the Swedes. As if we had all the time in the world!"
Twiligt Child by Sally Warner
I can't believe the second book hasn't come out yet! They leave you hanging so much in he first book! I am also jealous because one of the authors I am following has already read it!
Did anyone know that colleges have Qudditch teams? My sister was looking at some colleges, and she saw that a lot of them play Quidditch. People run around trying to get the ball through the ring while peole through dodgeballs at them. The snitch is a guy running around with a tennis ball attached to his waist with panty hose! It is hilarious to watch!
Everyone has their different opinions... personally I didn't like the series that much, but if you like them, don't just hate them because other people do. Don't listen to what other people say about a series, read what YOU like to read.

Yes, I know I am a little late on this comment... but you should definately read the Pendragon series!
