3551 I'm currently re-reading Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire.
And I hope to get to Graceling this month as well as Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
But with a family birthday, the holidays and two family holiday parties in the last half of this month, reading time is a bit short. I'll be happy to get HP:GOF done.

3551 I think they're making this one into a movie.

3551 The trailer looks good enough. But I've heard that they've made quite a few changes. I don't know. I heard Ares(sp?) is not in this movie, and I've heard that they have parts of the second book in this movie too. I don't know.....I thought Aries was cast though. Either way, I'm still excited for this movie!
3551 One of my favorite books 'The Alchemyst: Secrets of Immortal Nicholas Flamel' has been given the green light recently! I'm so excited!!
3551 Sounds interesting. Added to my TBR pile. :D

3551 *LOL*
"Take this to defend yourself! It's a powerful weapon!"
Percy: "....... :| This is a pen."

I'm not an Uma Thurman fan, but I think she'll do rather well with this role.

I'm really excited for this movie!!
3551 Well, I guess it's no surprise that The Host is gonna be a movie, as they'll want to try and reign in as much as they can on Stephenie Meyer while she's still popular at the moment. But I'm happy to NOT see that movie. The book was soooo boring and I don't know if they could make the movie any better.

I'm super excited for Percy Jackson though! It looks to be great! As well as the Hunger Games! Can't wait for that one! And I love that Suzanne Collins is writing the script! Should be great!

I totally agree! I think Secret Circle would make a great TV show like Vampire Diaries has. I wish they would! I'd even like to have the NightWorld series as a show! I love those books more than I do Vampire Diaries.

3551 And why has Tyler disappeared from the episodes all of a sudden? Odd.

Twilight was the first ever 'vampire' book I read, but then read Vampire Diaries (and found it to be sooo much better) and couldn't believe how many times Twilight came to my mind while reading that book. After that, I've never believed that Meyer has never picked up a vampire book in her life.

And for the show....I LOVE it! I think Ian Somerhalder was the PERFECT choice for Damon. He's got that character to a 'T', IMO. And Paul Wesley was an excellent pick for Stefan too. Just comparing the book with Stefan on it side by side with the actor that plays Stefan, they look eerily alike, it's great!

3551 I really really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to read the rest. This series started out for me, the same way that Harry Potter did, where it took me a few tries to get into the first book, but once I was done with the first book I flew through all the others.

Like some have already said, the first Percy book was predictable is some places, and it kind of made the book a tad less interesting, but not enough for me to stop reading. I'll definitely be finishing the series.
3551 I like the whole being a daughter or son of a god twist. I think it makes the story more exciting.

I only wished the book was a bit longer, because it felt like at the end, it all just came together too quickly.

I'm really excited for this movie!

Sounds fun!
Could you imagine it that went pro? Hahahaha.

Definitely some big names are going into that movie! I haven't read the first PJ&TO yet. I'm determined to read it though.

Censorship (47 new)
Jun 15, 2009 08:57PM

3551 Yeah! Why not have censored books? That's not such a bad idea.
I mean, a lot of musicians release albums that require the 'Parental Advisory' sticker on them. But a lot of those artists will also release a 'cleaner' version of the song.

Why can't it be that way for books? At least that way, the story may be enjoyed by more people?
Me...I'm not a huge fan of strong cuss words. A recent book I read had the F-bomb in it a few times. That word really turns me off. It didn't ruin the book for me, but I was very annoyed by it. To me, that word is so un-necessary. The book would have been fine without it, IMO.
Harry Potter (160 new)
Jun 15, 2009 08:41PM

3551 Yay!! I don't care how many previews and clips we get! I love seeing them all. I know some people feel like they've seen the whole movie with so many clips. Not me :D
Plus, Merlin looks good, so I'll be watching it anyway.

3551 Ashley wrote: "There is way too many twilight groups already. "

Yeah. Twilight is bordering on overkill, if it hasn't already passed that line, which in my personal opinion it has.

But I may check out that Vampire Bites group! Since Twilight, I've read a few other vampire books that I enjoyed so much more.

Harry Potter (160 new)

3551 I think GOF was the worst for leaving a lot out of the movie, just because there was so much info in that book. I wouldn't have complained if they had filmed GOF in two films :D
But OOTP did condense better than GOF, but it seemed rushed. The could have made it longer....like 3 hours instead of 2 1/2. I think most fans wouldn't have cared.
But OOTP is my favorite movie so far. HBP is looking to be great though! I can't wait!

Oh not doubt!! :D I'm so very much looking forward to the DH movies! Especially since they decided to split them. So far, most of the news from the DH filming makes it seem like they really are gonna try and film the whole book! They just cast the character Charity Burbage....the Muggle Studies teacher from the first chapter of DH, in Malfoy Manor! That seemed like such a small detail, but I'm happy they put her in the movie!
