Fledgling Jason Steed

My brain hurts even more now. lol

I loved this book and looking at it here so do many others. It pprobably the best book I have ever read.
They have even got a Jason Steed group here on Goodreads, but its called Jason Steed by Anthony Horowitz.
Everywhere on the net it says he wrote it using a pen name? Some places say its due to contract and the name M A Cooper is short for Mini Cooper (His car he drives around London) and the A is for Anthony.

But then some other sites say Mark Cooper did actually write it. Wikipedia says Mark A Cooper wrote it??

What is the truth?
Why would Anthony Horowitz (Alex Rider author)use a pen name?
I am confused and my brain hurts.
