My husband read it and really liked it. He just read Fire and didn't enjoy it as much, said it was geared more toward females.
Hey, I'm a Twilight lover and I think that Nightlight thing looks fun! If anyone has been able to get their hands on it, please share!
Totally off-subject, I've never read the Vampire Diaries but I think I will as I'm interested in how it's like Twilight . . . (sorry, long introduction)
Ahem, what I was going to say was that I read an interview a long time ago where Stephenie Meyer said that she'd never even picked up a book about vampires before she wrote Twilight, so she probably didn't steal the idea from LJ Smith.
Looked up the Chaos Walking trilogy, sounds really cool! It's now on my to-read list. (My ever-growing to-read list) :)
My favorites are:
Twilight
Hunger Games
Wings
Wicked Lovely
Vampire Academy
Mortal Instruments
Poison Study
Graceling
Midnighters (until the last book, ugh)
I couldn't get into House of Night or Gemma Doyle, though I did give them both a chance. *shrugs*

I know what you mean about the lack of description making it creepier -- your imagination can really go wild!! I didn't expect to cry over that particular character (if you've read it you know who I mean) but I actually did! Very well-written book.
Jenisse:
I'm a huge Jace fan and I came to like Clarey more as I read the rest of the series.
I hated the way The City of Bones ended too, but the series as a whole is fabulous!!! Keep reading!!!!!
This isn't exactly 5 sentences down, but close enough:
She lets him go, but his shoulder still throbs. "You didn't have to do that," Connor says, trying not to show how much it still hurts. "It's not like I was going to hurt you or anything."
"Yeah, well, now you won't for sure," says Risa, maybe sounding a bit guilty for being so harsh.

This is an excellent book -- from the description you think it's going to be gory (atleast I did) but it's really less than The Hunger Games, and just as gripping. I would highly recommend it!!
Someone will have to tell me who Zoey picks in the end, I just can't get myself to read any more books -- I've read them all up until Hunted and they just got on my nerves. Does anyone else think that the author(s) is trying too hard to sound hip and young? And Zoey was eternally making me roll my eyes, she can make some pretty bad decisions (again, and again, and . . .)
It's pretty bad when I turned out liking that Aphrodite chick more than the main character -- I have to admit, she can be pretty hilarious! Even though she is clearly a witch sometimes, she seems to have a better head on her shoulders.
There are cool elements in this series but I just couldn't get past all the other "stuff". :(
I just recently started using Facebook and I think it's wonderful!! Practically everyone from church and my family is on there and it's so convenient to post one thing and everyone see and comment on it rather than making phone calls or e-mailing. I agree that it's not as personal as a phone call but I don't have the time and I personally hate being on the phone all the time.
Another perk is finding people that you have lost touch with, I've already found 3 people I used to go to high school with that live out of state and I've also found about 10 people I used to work with and we're planning a get-together, all because we found each other on Facebook.
I LOVE it!!
I'm addicted to Facebook and Goodreads! That's where I spend my time when I'm on the computer.
LOL, you're definitely right about that. But it's being on the hold list for months that gets old for me. :(
I'm usually a library regular but I'm buying the whole Hunger Games series. It's one of those few that I'd like to re-read.
Ooh, that movie looks fun!! I need to read the book first! I have a couple of friends who are huge fans of the books, I have to tell them about this movie!!!
I wasn't overly fond of the book, I thought it completely dragged at times and I skipped ahead to see when/if it picked up the pace. I haven't seen the movie but I'm a big fan of Paul Bettany, I'd like to see what he did with Dustfinger, he's probably my favorite character in the book.
Ummm, the nude scene freaked me out just because it was so close-up! I had pictured in the book seeing this woman in the distance, but that up-close and right in front of the headlights of the car was too much exposure for me. :/But yes, I did enjoy most of it and thought it followed the book pretty well.
I think you'll like it -- it's also going to be the start of a series. I'm excited to see what direction it goes. If you guys read it tell me what you think!
This is fun!!
All of the petals were tinged a dark blue at the center that faded to the softest sky blue in the middle and white at the ends. The edges were ruffled and looked eerily like the African violets her mother painstakingly grew in their kitchen. There must have been twenty of the soft, petal-like strips. Maybe more.
Laurel turned her front to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
(this is more than a paragraph but I thought the second little paragraph added a lot)
Wings by Aprilynne Pike
So far I really like this book!!

I LOVE dystopian society books!!! I really enjoyed The Giver but I haven't heard of the other two. Thanks for the recommendations, they are now on my to-read list.
