I've reached chapter four. I would have read more last night, but I was so tired that I could barely keep my eyes open. One does not read Tolkien with too much sleep deprivation. I discovered this when I read LOTR for the first time, hehe.
I have finally finished reading The Silmarillion and really enjoyed the book. The tales of the First Age are wonderful! At the moment I would say that the story about Turin is my favorite at the moment. I have the book The Children of Hurin in my possession also so I will be beginning that one soon.
My friend gave me her copy of The Silmarillion and I (finally) started to read it. I'm not very far into it, but I am enjoying it from what I have read.
A reading challenge seems like an excellent endeavor. I think I might try it soon. I just bought The Children of Hurin and plan on borrowing The Silmarillion from a friend, so I will be ready to pursue Tolkien beyond The Hobbit and LOTR. :)
I was looking through some of the Tolkien quotes too earlier this evening and kept thinking to myself that some of those were from the movies and not the books.
At first I felt a certain degree of animosity toward the movies and the changes that were made to Tolkien's tale, but lately I seem to have mellowed somewhat on that point.
