I just finished Charlie Huston's The Shotgun Rule A Novel. Brutal and unsettling, hard to put down. I'd recommend it to fans of crime fiction and thrillers.
Now reading Without a Net The Female Experience of Growing Up Working Class a collection of essays edited by Michelle Tea.
My wishlist has been going nuts too, and I had to buy credits on two occasions in the last month!
What I really hate is when books go into "wishlist purgatory". I had one book go through five wishers, none of whom ever responded and let the full 48 hours elapse until the book finally sat on my shelf unrequested for over a week.
In frustration, I ended up listing it on Bookmooch.
With its minor flaws, I still love PBS and find the majority of traders to be honest.
The wishlist holds up to 200. Go ahead and fill it up, life's too short!
I have 185 right now and was ecstatic that my turn finally came up for Brian Keene's Ghost Walk, only to find out that the sender never accepted the request. So it's back on my wishlist again.
That's too bad about your copy of American Gods. Posting water-damaged books on PBS is definitely a no-no even though I've received several and haven't complained about it. You can try posting it at BookMooch. When you list the book, there's a section where you can give specific details about book condition.
People's trading conditions are really no big deal to me. If I can't meet them, or they are too vague and subjective, I simply decline them. The book will eventually get requested by someone else.Even though over 90% of the books I've received on PBS have been in better than acceptable condition, I still don't rely on the site for books I'm adding to a permanent collection.
I work as a Senior Project Coordinator for a company that manufactures medical imaging products. This is my third position within the company. In my spare time I enjoy reading (of course!), hanging out on Shelfari and GoodReads, knitting, crocheting, movies, traveling, and healthy cooking.
I am currently taking online classes toward a General Studies degree and am about halfway toward getting a bachelor's.
No kids, no dogs, no cats.
I've always wanted to read Cormac McCarthy, but for some reason or other never got around to it. Now I've finally added his books to my wishlist even though the wait is long since seeing the film No Country for Old Men.Wow, what a great film! The acting, photography and direction were superb. Despite the fact the film was quiet and slow-moving, it was very bleak, dark, unsettling and full of tense moments. Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem) was one of the creepiest characters I've seen lately.
So how does the film compare to the book?
Hi Cynjon,The only Cormac McCarthy book I have is The Road. I go to a lot of library sales and used book stores, so will keep an eye out for you.
Sorry I didn't think to invite you to this group.

Cayr - You have some interesting titles on your wishlist. Someone requested my copy of Jeremy Shipp's Vacation a couple of months ago. And I've added She's Not There: A Life in Two Genders to mine.Don't let the big numbers on the waiting list get you down. Sometimes they move very quickly, depending on how popular the book is.
Congrats on your book. I'll stop by your website.
Right now I'm reading two books on domestic violence for a class I'm taking.
The Abusive Personality, Violence and Control in Intimate Relationships
When Battered Women Kill
I loved the Riddle-Master trilogy and Something Rich and Strange. I really need to read her other books. The cover art is gorgeous too.
I can't seem to find you on PBS with the nickname yelodoggie. Is your profile public? What types of books do you like to read?
