33903 I may have to replace or abandon one of my series. I'm really struggling on the second book of the Sirantha Jax series. If it doesn't pick up soon, I'm not sure I want to read the rest. :-/

33903 I've read all the books, and watched the show and it seems really faithful. Even parts that I thought would be toned down for a TV audience were included, sometimes graphically (Dany's wedding among other scenes). I absolutely loved it. My hubby has not read the books and loved it too, altho he probably didn't get as many details out of it as I did. I kept adding snippets of history for him. I tried not to, but couldn't stop myself. All and all, it was great!

33903 LOL! Wow, this thread has gone to some "interesting" places. First squid porn *shudder* and now over-sized man parts. XD

EDIT- I just noticed the picture in the background. It's looking straight at the standing man's crotch with a kinda horrified look. XD XD XD

Are you talking about The Price of Temptation, Lisa? That certainly was interesting..."

LOL! That's the one. That cracks me up. XD

ROFL! Too funny! Some of those are hilarious. In the comments, look for the poster who has a sci-fi romance cover shown. Her/his third link down is, um, er, how should I say this ... interesting? Or maybe scary?

33903 I hate cliffhangers. Granted, they're not so bad when you have the next book. I can handle it if the book wraps up it's story, but some personal issues or sub-plots are left dangling at the end. (Of course, I'm not sure if that's still considered a "cliffhanger.") Each book should resolve it's main plot by the last page. The worst is when a book stops when the climatic battle is at a key moment. That's pure evil.

33903 Usually a series length doesn't stop me from reading it. The only time is has (and it's only delaying, not stopping me) is with Wheel of Time. I have so many unread books on my shelf, that I don't want to commit to starting that series yet. Oddly, I had no qualms about starting Dresden (which I love!) and it has 12 books now, I think. Nor did I have any problems starting Anita Blake, back in the day when there was only 13 or so. Maybe it's not just the series length, but how large the individual books are in it. *shrug*

I tried to find HarperCollins preferences when I signed up, but I must have overlooked it. It's good to know about them being picky, and that they pull it before the book release. I'll have to check the books release dates. But I have a better idea what's going on. Thanks all! :)

EDIT - Both of those titles I didn't get are either already released or about to be.

I'm sure they'll work through eventually. I just found it interesting that I requested the first two on 3/6, and the last one on 3/10. The 3/10 was approved the next day. I'm not complaining (free books, how could I?) but it's just kinda odd. :P

33903 I'm on NG too. What a great service. :)

Interestingly, I requested three books from Harper Collins (two by well known authors, the other was someone I've never heard of). They approved the unknown author, but have left me hanging on the other two. The haven't accepted or denied them. They just sit in my request box. I wonder if they're waiting to see if I'll review the one they did send, before giving me a copy of the higher demand items. Any one else notice this?

As a side note, I don't care for the one I did get, but I'm plugging through in case they are waiting.
