3124 Have you read Sunshine by Robin McKinley? (The current group read?) The main character undergoes fairly drastic change, of the self-discovery variety.

3124 Sweet! Thanks for sharing. I'm off to read it now.
3124 I am very much enjoying this book. It's quite different from anyhting else I've read in the UF genre.

I like Sunshine's struggles to balance who she is now with who she was before her excursion to the lake. She is developing nicely as a well rounded, three dimensional character. She has a very strange relationship with her mother. Her relationship with Mel is odd as well. It's like an anti-dating thing. I also get the feeling there is more to Mel than meets the eye.

I really like Constantine. It's always intriguing when a character sort of goes against who/what they are, as he has done. I would like to learn more of his backstory. I think Sunshine and Constantine will definitely go after Bo and his crew. They don't really have a choice in the matter. It's either go on the offensive, or sit back and wait for Bo to find them. They have a better chance for survival working together to find Bo. I think her relationship with the SOF will complicate matters with Constantine. How could it not? (Am I the only one who wants them to hook up?)

I find the way that magic handlers are supposed to "clean up after themselves" by changing things back to their original form, and making some sort of offering/prayer to be very unique. I haven't seen this done in other books before.
3124 When in may is Ward coming to Kentucky? I want to go! And why Radcliff?? It's a hole!

3124 1. I imagine that Sunshine is pretty in an average, girl-next-door sort of way. There was some mention of her hair being brunette. I think it's on the longer side, not super long, but past her shoulders.

2. I don't think the VooDoo Wars will start back up or anything, but I do think that old grudges/past experiences from the wars will shape future events in the book.

3. I thought the way she added in the back story was fine. She didn't perform an info dump all at once, but added in bits and pieces as you needed them. If you were stuck in a hairy situation, it would be natural to reflect on what you knew about the past that might help you out.

4. I don't think they were allowed to escape. I just think Bo's gang had no clue about who their captive (Sunshine) was, and what she'd be capable of.

3124 It's because the new cover art for Dead Until Dark is a TV show tie in for True Blood. Bah!

3124 I hate it when they reissue a book with a different cover, especially if it's a movie or TV show tie in cover. Argh!!!
3124 I've sort of met Lynn Viehl online. I read her blog all the time. Periodically she does give-aways, and at the begginning of this year I won a copy of Stay the Night, and the companion e-book Master of Shadows. She printed out the e-book, and put it in a binder for me, and autographed both books. Viehl is hilarious and super cool!

2. Darkfever - K.M. Moning

3124 I thought she always burned her blood so that no one else could use it. A common magical theme is that if you have someone's hair, blood, or some other personal item you can use it in a spell against them. That was what I thought anyway...

3124 If you don't like it Ranata, don't read it! LOL! After you said that, I just just had to say it. Hee hee!

In all honesty though, its good to branch out and try new books that are slightly out of your comfort zone. A lot of people are unwilling to try anything new or different, and they just miss out. At least we're all adult enough here to have discussions and voice different view points without devolving into mudslinging. I hate discussion boards where dissenting opinions are instantly villified.

3124 The Covenant was terrible!!! Yes, Steven Strait is pretty to look at, but no one in that movie could act their way out of a paper bag. The writing was terrible, and the plot was sub-par. Did I mention the excruciatingly crappy dialogue? Good grief!
3124 If I've gotten any wierd looks, then I haven't noticed them. Besides, I've bought children's books for my niece. Just because you're buying Ramona the Brave, doesn't necessarily mean its for yourself....

3124 Try Witch Blood and Witch Fire by Anya Bast. They're pretty good!

3124 I am looking forward to a new supernatural-themed series beginning this year called Fringe. It stars Joshua Jackson. (Pacey from Dawson's Creek.) I've seen a few commercials for it, and it looks interesting.

3124 I loved Tom back in the early days of his career. Who doesn't love young Tom dancing in his underware in Risky Business?? Or Tom from Top Gun? How can you not love Maverick?!?! He's gone off the deep end now though. Bleh.
3124 Why would they be released at different times in different countries? Why have multiple release dates? Thant makes no sense. I wonder what the reasoning is behind this?

3124 Gary Oldman is a great actor; he's usually good, whatever he's in.

I did see Gerard in Phantom. I was impressed that he did his own singing. It's got really difficult pieces, musically.

3124 Stuart Townsend is smokin' hot, but the movie was terrible. I was actually referring to Antonio Banderas. Not that he was bad, or isn't a good actor. But having read the books, he's all wrong to play Armand. Armand was barely more than a boy when Marius turned him. He's supposed to be about 15 (physical age) and have short auburn hair. Antonio wasn't bad, just was soooo not what I was expecting, and not how the character was written. Brad was decent, but lacking in the french-creole accent department. He was a little stiff too.

I haven't seen Dracula 2000, even though I love Gerard Butler. It looks pretty bad.

Bram Stoker's Dracula actually follows the book more closely than any other adaptation I have seen.

Anyway, this is just my opinion.
