3124 Well, the Julie Kenner books, she appears to be the 'bland' soccer mom. She's a Catholic sahm. 2 kids, fenced yard, ambitious working husband (politics? if I recall correctly or something like that). But quickly it comes to light that appearances are deceiving. The books are fast paced paranormal with mystery elements.

I do think other books in this same style could easily be successful with all the variety potential that is there (as Danielle pointed out above).

3124 Yeah, Murphy being on board helps a lot, of course, that could have been helped along a lot faster if Harry had just gotten over trying to protect her by keeping her in the dark.

3124 Its fun and exciting without being deep or all consuming like some books can be.
3124 I guess there was something about Harry that I adored form the beginning- bad decision making and all. Harry knows he's flawed, but it just trying to make the best of whatever situation he's in. He's like the ultimate underdog.
3124 I agree. Butcher has a knack for creating characters that are just amazing. Even teh characters you hate are wonderfully built.

3124 I was under the impression that Micah especially was not bi. He was comfortable having another guy there to be with Anita also, but not in participating in any activities wiht the other guy directly.

3124 My only complaint about Darkfever, was it was a major cliffhanger type ending. It was like the story wasn't meant to be 3 books, and the author just arbitrarily split it up. "*boom* that's all for now folks" I was somewhat annoyed.

3124 Well, I've known a few of the more macho types who DO talk that way, so it doesn't bother me as much. The shitkickers thing annoys me I think because its like when a little kid learns a new word, and then feels teh need to use it every chance they get LOL

3124 This is the weakest Dresden book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and every book so far in this series! Harry is just too much fun!

3124 I read this early. After enjoying the BDB books I was a little dissappointed in this. BUT I think that's just because there is SOO much series setup that happens in this book. I fully expect future books to get better and better.

I do find it annoying that Ward can't use the word boots or workboots. Every time its 'shitkickers'. Variety woman! Sheesh!

3124 I think Hamilton's taste in men runs to the "Is he naked?" requirement. LOL Honestly, Jean-Claude has never done it for me either. Maybe that's a factor in why I stopped reading. The sex became so focal, that I felt like the plot was lacking. Maybe its more that I don't care about sex with JC LOL And I hate what she's done to Richard *sigh*

3124 I think the nook appeals to him as a computer geek more than the others do. He keeps talking about the ebook readers like they're just oversized cellphones without cell service LOL For some reasont he Nook seem to appeal to the gadget fan in him.

3124 When I first told my husband I wanted an ebook reader he wasnn't exactly thrilled. He thinks they're overpriced and don't 'do enough' to be worth it. But he was actually impressed with the info he's read on the Nook. Hopefully this means he's warming to the idea of the investment!

3124 I think I would appreciate the Anita books more if I found Jean-Claude attractive. I always found him to be an arrogant ass. And too pretty for my tastes.

3124 I have enjoyed all the Anita books that I read. That said, I think she could have balanced the sex better. I always felt the sex made sense, and wasn't jsut tossed in. But that it could have been shortened, mentioend but not described etc. and gotten a better quality story for it.

3124 I've read the first Remy book, and it was good. Though, I am starting to see a trend in books featuring Angels/Serafim/other variations. Wonder if they'll be the next vamps.

3124 Its not a perfect solution to the lending issue, but its more than anyone else offers.

3124 According to the website:

Q- Can I lend eBooks from my nook?

A- Yes. With our new LendMe™ technology, you can now share from nook to nook. But it doesn’t stop there. Starting Nov. 30th, you can lend to and from any device with the Barnes & Noble eReader app, including PC, Mac OS®, BlackBerry®, iPhone™ and iPod® touch. All you need to know is your friend’s email address. You can lend many of your eBooks one time for a maximum of 14 days. When you use our LendMe™ technology, you will not be able to read your eBook while it is on loan, but you always get it back.

3124 The first 4 or 5 Anita Blake books (Laurell K Hamilton) are really good. After that they decline heavily into more erotica than UF or even PR.

The Kitty Norville books by Carrie Vaughn are good. I hated the first one. I think I 2 starred it! But the rest of them are SOOOOO much better.

3124 I wonder how soon after release there will be a user created 'mod' to allow the wi-fi to work freely. heh Or perhaps future models if the original is popular.
