Jessica, I love your idea on how to end the series. I think Lewis taking David's/Jonathon's place and some type of sacrifice for Jo would work very well, kind of balance ereything out. This book was my favorite so far, pushing the series to my favorite urban fantasy.
I nominate The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks.
I've noticed many readers placing this book on sci-fi shelves and though there are many technological and sci-fi type elements, this book is strong urban fantasy, in a "closed" world, with lots of action. The third book in the series comes out this year in September.
Ha, I was just talking about that with new_user, about how my body tenses up when I read these! Lori, you are so right. The action here is what makes these books special in my opinion. It is rather like watching an action movie!
I agree Lori. I recently finished book 4 and tragic descibes the ending perfectly. I get the sense that a HEA ending may eventually show up but since the series is still going, I am beginning to doubt it.
Oh jeez, you are so right! I hadn't thought about a few of the things you mention, such as the women and suicide thing, but you're so right!!!
I just don't see how the writers could be so in the dark about how their fans felt. They really thought mentioning Daniel would not upset anyone? Very frustrating!
I agree. I think that's why I'm so into the series now. The action is great, fast-paced and mostly unexpected. I had no idea what was going to happen at the end and I love being surprised. There are too many book that are predictable so this was a great read.
My only complaint was that I thought the book was difficult to get into but I got over that and even though I'm only on book 5, this is now one of my all time favorite series. The first book is my least favorite in the series and I love the first book, if that tells everyone how great the series is!
Yeah, Callie's story always bugged me too. Just my opinion now, but I think she thought her child was a cylon and, with the additional depression and finding out about her husband, she decided to send both her and her son out of the airlock. I do not think Callie knew her son was not Galen's but I may be remembering things incorrectly. When the Doc explained everything, did he say the paternity test was due to his curiosity or did he hint that Callie knew about it? Sorry, I can't remember that scene very well!
I thought Galen's reaction to Tori was fitting but there were so many things about his character that bothered me. Why was he never punished for releasing Boomer? I mean, I knew that the five would find out about Callie but I also thought they would find out about Galen releasing Boomer, switching with another 8, and then kidnapping Hera. And how could he ever give up his son, even being a part of his son's life? What a crappy father.
Oh Gitana, you aren't crazy:) and to both Nichole and Gitana, I know!, those flashbacks were rather annoying. What was the whole bit with Lee and the bird? Probably some bad symbolism, but I kept expecting something more. I guess that's how I felt about the entire ending. Oh well, I'd still recommend the show to anyone.
Hi Gitana, I strongly agree with every single one of your comments. I was very bothered about the Daniel thing being dropped but I think there might be a spinoff/miniseries and maybe they were setting up something? I don't really know anything though except I saw a preview for Caprica. And you're right about the Matrix similarities. I also always wanted something more with Starbuck/Leoben. I really liked their chemistry too.
Well, I've noticed little discussion about Sunshine. I was just wondering what everyone thought. What did everyone rate the book? To those who enjoyed the book, sorry, I had to give it one star, but I am curious as to the average rating.
http://www.tvguide.com/News/Battlestar-G...This was a little intersting. Didn't make me like the finale any more though. The good questons are towards the end.
Jed, I completely agree. I have a big problem with everyone giving up technology. I did not find it convincing either. The first person to get sick or injured is going to miss the medicine and technology. I do not see how people wold choose to regress in knowledge. Even though their technology would not have lasted forver, they could have adapted and recorded their knowledge for future generations.
I was disappointed with most of the character conclusions. Adama just abandoned his son? And Tyrol gets away with releasing Boomer? Gaius and Caprica Six, their big involvement with 'rescuing' Hera, was nothing. They picked her up and carried her into a room, when safety was right beind her.
Jeez, I could probably talk about the finale all day, considering how disappointed I was. And now network has some new spin-offs, which I will watch, because overall the show was amazing.
Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series, particularly book 2 , Heat Stroke, includes a drastic transformation, in my opinion. Probably ideally what you are talking about, but I do not want to give anything away since book 1 might win as the next group read.
I am going to take a chance and suggest Night Watch A Novel. I plan on reading this series in April. Supposedly, it straddles different genres but enough people consider it to be urban fantasy that I think it would work.
I promise not to provide any spoilers!:) Stay in the thread. We can talk about stuff in an extremely broad sense! And when the show is finished, and we've all caught up, then we can talk about it in detail. How does that sound?
Someone... is episode 17, of a total 20. Episode 19 aired tonight and I have some complaints but I am hopeful that the finale next week will be good. It's supposed to be 2 hours and, of course, all of our answers are supposed to be answered. I'm gonna record it and watch it after I put the boys to bed so I have zero interruptions!
Yes, he did, but wasn't it great! Baltar is one of my favorite characters in any show I've ever watched and I love finding out what awful thing he's going to do next. He's the character I love to hate.
