One of my favorite books is:
The World On Blood by: Jonathan Nasaw
It's a little different then most urban fantasy books. This book had me from the beginning and held me to the end.
Enjoy!!
Jael, I think that the convenant movie idea was good but they didn't pull it off. I did like the soundtrack though.
I also liked Queen of the Damned Soundtrack. I have that memorized.
The first Men of the Otherworld comes out Feb 2009. She is starting with Clayton's childhood and Jeremy "adopting" him.
The short stories, Otherworld Tales, that she has on her website intertwine with the series. There are 12 and you can download them for free.

I'm excited about this upcoming book.
Lori, I have been curious about that series. I have seen it on the bookselves and I was drawn to the cover. I think that I will have to put them on my already long "to read" list. Thanks for the input.
"Women of The Otherworld" series by Kelley Armstrong gives you a variety of fantasy characters: werewolfs, witches, half-demons, necromancers, etc. There are a few vampires but that is not the main focus.
"Wicked Lovely" by Melissa Marr is a YA book but it deals with fairies in a unique way.
I am currently reading the first book in the "Lords of The Underworld" series by Gena Showalter. I am enjoying it as well.
When I watched the movie "Blood and Chocolate", they transformed the magical way and I thought that was extra cheesey. That turned me off on the whole movie.
Kelly Armstong and Stephanie Myer have the transformations that I like the best. I agree with Jess on the clothing issue. I like that detail, seems more realistic.
My favorite movie of this genre would have to be Bram Stoker's Dracula. I consider it the greatest love story of all time. Their love was so powerful and beautiful that it overcame centuries. They were meant to be together.
My other favorites:
Interview With A Vampire
Queen of The Damned
The Lost Boys
The Craft
Cursed (not my favorite but it beats Blood and Chocolate hands down)
The Twilight series is a good one as well:
I am on the second one, "New Moon" right now and I love the series so far. I really get into them.
I'm a Charmed fan as well. Doesn't matter how many times I have seen it, I still watch the reruns to this day. I watched Buffy and Angel every now and then.
I just recently picked up 2 young adult books and loved them, "Twilight" and "Wicked Lovely".
Got me to thinking, what appeals an adult to the young adult section? I don't remember there being this much choice when I was young. All I had to read was R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike.
What are your thoughts?
I am so hooked on Kelley Armstrong right now. Her writing sparks my imagination that I can't put the book down till it's done. My favorite has to be [Broken]. That is when she introduces the supernatural community.
I did go pick up the first 2 books of the Rachel Morgan series. Haven't started it yet but I can't wait. Thanks for the info.
