Jeez..it sucks that he seems so rude cause I loved his books - especially A SPOT OF BOTHER (sorry Mich, I really really did like it)
Oh well, his loss...
Sign me up for this one... I just got an email about how good this book is so I look forward to finally joining in a discussion!
Can't wait!!
Lisa
Never..I mean NEVER call your trainer at the gym a skinny b!tch (well, at least not to her face) as she will make you pay for it, and I mean PAY.and.PAY.and pay....
It's been over a week and I still cannot move - even my eyelashes are sore.....
Hands down one of my favourite books is The English Patient (anyone who knows me knows I am one of the biggest Ondaatje fans - LOVE HIM)
When the movie was coming out I was quite skeptical that it wouldn't translate to the screen but I was soo mistaken - the movie was as moving and lyrical as the book - well, except for the change in the ending.... it is possibly one of the best movies as well
There were so many scenes in the movie that were just as I envisioned them in the book
I could go on and on about this movie and book but I'll leave it at that
Thanks Julie
I will keep pluggin away at it, hoping it will get better..
Maybe my expectations are just too high because of all the hype about the movie...
I picked it up today after work and am looking forward to starting it soon - have to finish Ian McEwan's Atonement first, so hopefully I will be able to get to it by Wednesday -
Just as a sidetrack, has anyone read Atonement and if you have please give me the strength to continue on because at this point I'm ready to throw the d*mn thing across the room - tell me it'll get better (maybe I should start a new thread on this - haha)
I recently read Good Grief by Lolly Winston and My Fabulous Divorce by Clare Dowling
Both were very good and funny
I would recommend them both if you are looking for an easy and humourous read
Hello Everyone!!
My name is Lisa - AKA Shawsee on 2peas. I love to read as well and am trying to make it a priority in my life - seems to have gotten away from me in the last few years due to, you know, this crazy thing called life! (ha ha)
I work as a Crisis Intake Worker at a Family Support and Crisis Care Centre - love my job, but sometimes I need to do a little escaping and have found reading a good book a great way to forget about the day's troubles...
I am the mother of one fabulous 8 year old boy and have been married to my husband for going on 11 years.
I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading as I am forever looking for a good book to sink myself into.
Thanks for the opportunity to meet you all and share our love of reading together!
Ciao for now
Lisa
