That's one of the reasons I loved her/EPL so much too!

Wow, some Great conversing has been going on here! I've got to run out but will return later today to catch up.

2996 Her details with respect to the domestic violences and how Julia felt & what she went through are so eerily right on that I'm curious to know if she's been through it herself.

I thought for sure Elm Creek Quilts series author Jennifer Chaiverini must have based one of her mother-daughter relationships on that of her own and she told me her relationship with her mom was wonderful & nothing like the books! The characters' was based on friend's relationships with their moms if I remember correctly. I was So surprised!

It's the writer in me! (This particular curiosity).

2996 Well said Cindy! I think the humor was a bit over the top at times & took away from the overall serious message and purpose of the story. I wonder if she interjected So much humor because she herself or someone close to her was abused or a victim of domestic violence & was perhaps overcompensating for the painful emotions brought about by writing the story? Perhaps I will email her to ask.

2996 Too much on domestic violence & too much violence in general?! Unfortunately that is the Reality of many women's & children's lives, every minute of every day and it's about time Everyone becomes aware of that fact, whether or not it makes people uncomfortable, so that women & children stop being abused and murdered.

2996 Kaliki, so glad to see you over here! I hope you'll keep popping in!

Tanja, The Power of Now and A New Earth are by Ekhart Tole.

Cindy, I will join you in making yoga my New Year's resolution!

Has anyone decided to have a different focus now that we're in India/Book 2 compared with what you focused on during Italy/Book 1? Or are you going with one focus overall throughout the book?

I swear, my fave quotes from the past couple of weeks beads are coming!

2996 LoL Cindy! I could read EPL over & over and listen to it over & over, so between the book and the audio, I did finish it again, but I have to go back & write down my fave quotes from where I left off in the discussion thread. Because of NaNoWriMo and our family issues/drama, I've dropped the ball a bit on the discussion but I promise to get back on track this coming week!

I do have A Year in Provence, thank you! It's an old, worn, well loved copy that I picked up at a library sale the September before the one just passed. It's such a delight!

Now that I've read Little Women again and marked my favorite parts, I may end up only reading those instead of the entire book again. (But who knows, if I'm in the mood, perhaps I'll read it cover to cover again, lol!)

2996 Thank you Brenda!

Even when my mind wanders from my novel, I keep writing where ever it goes so I can keep the word count going.

Rosemary, I'm so sorry. We're not okay either - I hope both of our family situations get straitened out as quickly as possible & in the best possible way for all.

2996 Thank you Rosemary! This is a doozey indeed & is far from over (the family crisis). Congrats to you & your 21,000!!! I'm sorry you had your own family crisis to tend to as well. I hope all's okay now.

2996 I really have to re-read it soon. A word of caution to those who may read it: Don't let curiosity get the better of you! Don't Google around while reading it or you may spoil things for yourself as you get towards the end. And I will leave it at that! :-)

2996 Thank you Rosemary! I was very surprised to see that I broke 30,000. I'm glad though - I want to be well ahead of the game as my sister-in-law arrives on Sat 11/28 & with all the conplicated family drama going on, I'd like to be just about finished by her arrival.

2996 I haven't updated my count in a few days or so... Here it is: 30,436. (I'm writing blind now).

As Chris from NaNoWriMo.org says, "...Celebrate! Whether you've written 4,000 or 45,000 words, you've written a tremendous amount in the the 2 weeks, take a minute today to raise a glass to yourself... You've done an amazing thing so far, you should really be celebrating!"
