It wasn't too awful. I didn't spend much time looking. I decided on Sunday I could afford a car and started looking around. Just for the hell of it, I searched on a type of car I'd given up on, and lo and behold, there is the perfect car for a reasonable price. Consumer Reports and Carfax and Kelley Blue Book have necessary information so you should have her look at them if she hasn't already. I'm picking it up tomorrow morning and am very excited.
I just bought a car - used but still new to me. It was quite an adventure considering it's my first car purchase...I don't particularly want to do it again anytime soon.

You'll have to let me know how Then We Came To The End was, I tried to read it but didn't get a chance to finish it before I had to return it.I took Beautiful Boy out of the library, and couldn't finish it. I got maybe 50 or 60 pages in, and I just lost interest. I couldn't and still can't figure out why.
Maybe it's Michael Palmer? I know he just wrote a book called "The First Patient" but I don't know much about his earlier books.
Kristen, I'll read Omnivore's Dilemma with you. My mother just read it for her book group and said they had a really interesting discussion on it.
I just found a new cookbook at the library that I'm very excited to try. It's called The Flexitarian Table by Peter Berley and has one meat version and one vegetarian version of each dish he creates. I'm looking forward to trying it. One of my favorites is The Black Dog Summer on the Vineyard cookbook. It has a lot of laid-back easy dishes that aren't too pretentious or complicated.
Hi all,
I'm Abby, and I am currently working as a substitute teacher/temp. I graduated from college a couple years ago and am still working on reading all the books I never got around to reading then. Even though I had a good amount of free time, I did so much reading for class that I couldn't read for pleasure even though I very much wanted to.
I really like reading contemporary fiction, as well as a lot of nonfiction. I love reading books about situations that I haven't been in or groups I am not a part of - the aftermath of being a sociology major, I guess. I just finished Bringing Down the House and loved it and am working on High Crimes, a book about the darker side of climbing Mt. Everest.
Some of my favorite authors are Jon Krakauer, John Grisham, Philip Roth and Janet Evanovich, among others I can't think of right now. I'm always looking for new books to read so I"m looking forward to seeing what you all are reading!
Frozen thin mints have no competition. Yum. We have 3 boxes of them, (2 are already in the freezer), and 5 boxes of Caramel Delites sitting in a giant box on the table. It's terrible and wonderful at the same time!
