I have read March. It gives you her idea of Mr. March from Little Women had going on. It was not near the book as Year of Wonders but it was still an okay read.

2996 Finished reading In the fall by Jeffrey Lent. It is an older book but it was really well written I thought. If you like family sagas you might go for this one.

I see that Three Cups of Tea One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a TimeGreg Mortenson was speaking in town tonight. I am not sure what to think of his book but I do commend him for his work.

2996 I love Colin Firth so I will have to check that out.
I just watched a cute but long movie Lost in Austen which is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with a modern day girl thrown back into the story and Lizzie goes to present day. It is very fun.

2996 I am very fond of an old worn and stained copy of the red plaid Betty Crocker binder. My mom still has it but the pages we made all the time are well worn and sticky looking. Love that. I also love the church cookbooks. I have one that is very worn that is from my hometown and the thing i love the most is that I know most of the people in there. I love to make a recipe and find it was from an aunt or person that is now deceased so it is cool to carry that recipe on. (one of my aunts especially was a good cook and I ate most of her things spending summers at her house)

2996 It has been so long since I have been on here it seems. I am reading The day the falls stood still and though it is a 'heavy boots' kind of read it is keeping me enthralled in the characters and I want to find out what happens to them.

2996 Nancy wrote: "Emily, I'm a quilter. As far as books about quilting, I have many. I didn't put them here on Goodreads. I am fortunate enough in our military moves, to have settled in Nebraska, which is home to..."

Nancy, where are you? I live here and went to the opening of the IQSC.
I do like to piece quilts but I have yet to master hand quilting or machine quilting.

I really liked a couple of fiction books by Sandra Dallas ...one is the Persian Pickle Club and the other is Alice's tulips.

2996 A big thanks to everyone! This has been a horrible week as you might imagine. My nephew was 22 and he was just heading back after a weekend in his hometown where he proposed to his girlfriend of 4 years. They were rooming together with another friend who was also with them and saw the accident happen. His fiance is still in the hospital here and of course things will never be the same.
Thanks for the all the kind thoughts and prayers (and cards). I am trying, but not much interested in reading right now but maybe soon.
Thanks again...hugs, krisT

2996 Petra, I didn't know there was one after that. I read Stones so long ago I should probably refresh before finding Floating. Thanks...another book on my list! :)

I seem to be stuck in England or the US lately in all my reads so will have to make an effort to take a summer trip somewhere.
I did do another brief stint in Japan with another Haruki Murakami book After Dark but it was not at all like his Kafka on the shore which I really liked.
