Cindy, I think you got it right. The UPS man should deliver the package some time this week, Cindy. I am in the middle of An Instance of the Fingerpost and will try to squeeze Bungay Castle in after the Instance. So, I will let you know. Almost finished my housework this Saturday and then plan to stay inside in the A/C and read.

2996 I just bought The Devlin Diary by Christi Phillips (A follow up to her debut, The Rosetti Letter), The Fall of The Templars (#3 in the series) by Robyn Young and an oldie - Bungay Castle by Elizabeth Bonhote (life at a haunted castle).

Andrea, The Well and the Mine is beyond excellent - it is breathtakingly beautiful. It was well-written and I wished I could have known the characters in real life.

That was my thought exactly. $70 would take away my book money.

Jenni, Sony sells lights but they cost $70. Here's what I did -- go back to Target and pick up one of the small reading lights which clip onto the brown cover of the reader very nicely. You know the ones I mean - they are on the bottom shelf in the book section - usually on the end cap. See, I spend way too much time at Target.

You are right on both accounts, Sandra. I am glad to know that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Yeah for you Jenni. I also bought mine at Target (that darn store is only 5 minutes from my house - you can imagine the boatloads of time and money spent there). You will have lots of fun.

2996 I don't like anything by Jodi Picoult, Philipa Gregory, or Danielle Steel. I also did not like The Gargoyle (nicely written; just did not get the hype), Eay Pray Love (way too much whining), Outlander series (how many times can we read about spanking during sex?), Friday Night Knitting Club, Knit Two, Lovely Bones, Shack, and Nefertiti (this one I could not even finish). Oh, and the granddaddy of them - The Da Vinci Code! I know these were really popular books but I don't wonder if it was just good advertising rather than the substance of the story.

I'm starting to read Diary of an Exercise Addict, and wanted to share thoughts"

Vera you can go to DISCUSSIONS at the upper right (close to the chick in her reading chair). Click DISCUSSIONS. Once it opens up there are two words (NEW TOPIC) in about the middle of the banner at the top. Click NEW TOPIC. Type in DIARY OF AN EXERCISE ADDICT. Then post a thread asking if anyone would like to read and discuss the book with you. I am sure you will find someone. You could also post it on your own page by posting a comment on your own page. Good Luck! P.S. Since it is not soliciting or selling anything, you are probably okay with opening the new thread; but, you might want to double check with Holli or Tera first as a courtesy.

Congratulations, Holli. I am very excited for you.

Tera, don't Texans also say "Hot damn, honey?" I love that one! And, no, I am not poking fun at any one - I live in an area where everyone answers a question with a question - try and figure that one out.

2996 Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "Please tell me more about "buddy reads"."

Elizabeth, sometimes I don't like the group read selection so, I ask someone if they would like to read a different book with me. For example, this month I am reading The Last Queen with a friend from another group here on GoodReads. It's easy, we just set up a discussion thread within the group and post comments, etc. there. We set it up with the topic - The Last Queen - and she and I read at our own pace and post our progress/comments/thoughts, etc. If a discussion thread cannot be posted within the group, you need only be friends with the other reader(s) and you and she/he/they could send messages or post on one another's profiles - whichever is easier. It's a great way to read a book and have fun.

Oh, no . . . I am reading the Elegance of the Hedgehog with Brenda (another CoL) in August. I have a buddy read set up for September. I am free June, July (only those 4 days but you know what . . . I will read at night anyway; so, July is good), October, November, December. Honestly, I will accommodate everyone's schedules since my move only involves a drive from PA to GA and then setting up the house. The drive to GA will take longer than the actual setting up of the house since Mr. Joe will be on leave and will be available to help set up (hurray! but don't tell him I said that - it's our little secret!) So, ladies, please tell me when we will read Shelter Me and I will be available.

2996 Erika wrote: "I can absolutely wait till July if that's OK with Wanda - I'm packing myself that would actually work out better. What do you think Wanda? (crossing fingers)"

And just in case I forgot to respond - July is perfect for me, too. I am moving July 18 and would only need about 4 days to set up house. So either before July 18 or after July 22 is good for me.

Those are good suggestions, too, Cindy. I'd be happy to read them one or the other after September if you would like to do a buddy read.

Cindy, if you download a book from Librivox.org, it will be a human reading the book. I am listening to The Circular Staircase right now and this gentleman has the most excellent speaking voice. As everyone who "reads" the book is a volunteer, you may/may not have the same narrator; however, if this does not bother you, you will be rewarded with a unique experience. I download books onto my MP3 player and then listen to them on the way to work. I have not, as yet, downloaded them onto a memory card and then inserted the card into the Sony reader only because I cannot remember when I go to the store to buy a memory card; but, the minute I get home from the store I remember that I wanted to buy a memory card. Does that ever happen to you? Does me all the time!

Take heart, Sydney - my little boy was 4 before he was completely potty trained. I cried because I thought I would be packing pampers to kindergarten. But, once we put him in pre-K4 and he saw all the other children going to the potty room, he caught the excitement and that was it. (Then I cried again because my little one had passed another milestone -- can you tell I am a softie for little ones?)
