Good point Lizzi, I've done the waiting for the perfect thing to happen in my life and lost myself in trying to acheive it. "It" has taken various forms over the years. I've come to a place in my life now that I think I know who I am (think is an important word because I'm always learning and growing) and I can accept my shortcomings as part of my charm. :o) Sure I can do better, but I'm OK now with doing my best and always striving to be and do better, as I learn better. I think it was Maya Angelou that said, "when you know better you do better."
Personally, I've had the desperate love a couple of times in my life. I've lost myself in a man and had to rediscover who I am when the relationship ends. My goal for my next relationship is to find a way to say true to myself in a relationship.
I read EPL probably about 2 years ago. I love this book because of all the self-discovery Liz goes through and I could take pieces of her journey into mine.
East of Eden is one of my favorites! Even though I've read it before I would love to join in the discussion here and there.
I agree..that is a scary trend. As a mother of two single daughters (22 and 19) it kind of sickens me to think of guys out there like that. I'm single too, but not out there in the bar scene that they tend to lurk in.
A good antidote for this type of book is Steve Harvey's Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment He is trying to help women be aware of the game men try to play on women. I bought one for each of my girls and read it too. :o)
Tera, I applaud you and thank you for the reminder! I have been worried about the growth of CoL, but after reading your comments I realize that my concern wasn't so much the size of the group as the tone of some of the discussions. (which I was blaming on the size) But you are right, why limit ourselves and our love of books and sharing and making new friends. I love what this group has brought into my life, both in friendships and new books. I will try to smooth my ruffled feathers and get back to the fun. :o)
Ok, have to chime in here...Amen to what Tera, Cyndi and others have said. Where is all this defensiveness coming from?? We are here to share opinions, not debate the merits of them. Jello comes in so many flavors because we all prefer different things. The tone of the middle of this thread is a major reason that I have been a bit scarce from the group. I pop in now and then and there seems to be drama everywhere. Not how I choose to spend my time or emotional energy, I miss the supportive nature that the group was founded on. (Sorry if my rant is out of line, but I needed to say something)
And by the way, not that it matters one bit...I love Oprah! Yes, not every book is wonderful and I've read maybe 1/4 of her list. BUT her book club has encouraged me to read Anna Karenina, East of Eden (two on my favorite list) and some Faulkner which I would have never read. I think that is pretty dang cool.
Brenda, it is all part of your google accounts too. So when you find it the blogs you follow on Blogger will already be in there. When you are in your Blogger dashboard there is a "View in Google Reader" link just under the list of all the blogs you are following. You can also get there my using the "my account" link at the top of the dashboard page and then selecting "reader" in your list of Google accounts. You've probably already found it, but maybe that will help someone else. :o)
Just trying to catch up a bit here...lots happening! :o)
Thank you Teri, for Bunko Blog in the first place. I've loved it and getting to know so many of you through your blogs. I love your comments on mine as well. I completely agree with Teri's comments about it just getting too big to maintain. I used to visit everyone each week and tried to leave comments, but I've been seriously slacking and MIA for the past few months. Even though I'm following or have on my blog list everyone who's added to the list over the last several months.
I love reading blogs and I love posting on mine. I hope we will continue to visit each other, but blogging and blog visiting should be fun and not a chore.
Tera and Teri, thank you both for your work to get this going and keep it going. I've really enjoyed it. I'll be popping by whenever I can to visit all of you...and I'll try to leave notes as well.
Jackie, my heart goes out to you. I agree with the advice of the rest of the chicks. I've found solise in letter writing and visualization. Maybe you could meditate on the conversation you wish you could have had and feel some forgiveness. Forgive yourself too.
Meg, isn't the new one already on the market (the Kindle 2)? Or is there another new one on the way? The 2 was just released a few months ago. I have the first generation Kindle and I love it. I still love books too though.
Hi Lani,
We've had a couple of discussion threads going on the pros and cons of the Kindle. You may find some answers there.

Mandy Sue, I think my daughter would love Why Should I Nurse My Baby...she just had her first baby and is breastfeeding.
Jamie, I'm going to try that recipe on my daughter.
Mandy Sue, thank you for sharing your recipes...can't wait to try a few of them!
If my daughter got to pick, we would live on hamburgers/mac n' cheese, sloppy joes, and fish sticks. Oh and of course, fast food. I need all the cheap, easy, picky-eater recipes I can find! lol
I like simple and the new mama is a very picky eater, but she likes tuna so I'd like to try it.
And I wouldn't get out of bed either!
