Holli~ Did you first say that you read while watching tv?!?!?!
In the hosue, it would be in front of my wood stove in the cool monts or on the back deck in warm months...always in bed before sleeping, and in the car whenever I am waiting for a kid to get done practice
Next year for sure...would be a blast! There are some great authors, musicians, etc...and Boston has so much else to offer, too! Let's make it an event, huh, Jo? This year it was centered near the Boston Public Library...first one in the country! I alwasy wnat to go in there when we are visiting my daughter and headed somewhere!
Is anyone going? We were just there last weekend for my daughter's Parents Weekend at her college ( and hence I would have had to have missed the COL trip to SC) but I saw banners and signs all over the city for it! It looks like fun!
GREAT topic! I am reading "Her Fearful Symmetry", "The Heretic's Daughter" (finally!!!) and "The Lace Reader" this Fall!
Fannie Farmer and Better Homes and Gardens are my most worn cookbooks., I LOVE "Cooks" and "Bon Apetit" for magazines!
The windex topic for carpets jsut maeks me want to watch 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding" ..Windex cures all, right? :)
I totally agree o n the bedroom being kept tidy and being a sanctuary, but alas, mine is the collection of all un sorted laundry, and the forsaken "sockland"...where all mis matched socks end up!
In an opposite kind of way, I sometiems bring along books set on the beach, or places that I have gone to before and enjoyed!
I think what made the story so much of an impact, was not only Frank Mc Courts' writing style, but the extreme circumstances that he had to overcome to make it to be a teacher in America! I agree, too, that this was my favorite book of his!
I love this little list!
I do NOT turn the corenrs of books and dont' crack the spine if it isnt' already done.
My books are lined up in my shelves alphabetically by author...my Grandmother used to be a Children's librarian!
I carry books with me everywhere and have a huge stack under my nightstand. I guess I look like a book-geek to any onlookers! LOL
I think this is one of the only oens of Barbara Kindsolver's that I have not read yet. I need to start my own search.
Holli! I really do need to spend more time catching up on this forum! I just read this entire thread and am so very excited for you! Did you have good luck on your first house search?
I really liked it, but at the time of night I usually read, I had a hard time keeping it all straight!
loved this book........maybe I can follow it better in a movie as to who is older/younger at each meeting..
I juut noticed that the autor of "The Firday NIght Knitting Club" has a new book out..in paperback already! I bought it last night,a nd it is called "Comfort Food"..anyone read it yet?
