Yeah, I managed to not only drop a book in the tub, it was a library book! That was bad.
And Teri, I don't take the dust covers off unless they bother me, but I try to keep them looking good. Most of the time I just tape them on to the book, that usually works.
FUN!
1. Are you careful with the spines? Or do you crack your books open to make them lay flat?
I try to be careful, but sometimes I accidentally do crack them.
2. Do you use bookmarks? Or do you dog-ear the corners? If you do use bookmarks, do you use those fashionable metal ones? Or paper?
I collect bookmarks, I love them. I have all kinds! Paper, metal, magnetic, homemade!
3. Do you write in your books? Ever? If you do, do you make small marks, or write in as much blank space as you can find? Pen or pencil? Highlighter? Your name on the front page?
I only write if they are reference or classics, & I need to make notes.
4. Do you toss your books on the floor? Into book bags? Or do you treat them tenderly, with respect?
I have them stacked on the floor, in the bookcase. I don't throw them, and they are neat though.
5. Do you ever lay your book face-down, to save your place?
I have, but I only do it for a minute or 2. I don't leave them like that.
6. Do you bathe with your books? Hold them with wet hands? Read out in the rain? Anything of that sort?
Not anymore. I had an accident with 1 in a bathtub.
7. Are your books lined up on a bookshelf? Or crammed in any which way? Stacked on the floor?
Lined up, but every which way. They are neatly messy.
8. Do you make a distinction--in regards to book care--between hardcovers and paperbacks?
No.
9. Naturally, you love all of your books, but how, exactly? Are your books loved in the battered way of a well-loved teddy bear, or like a cherished photo album or item of clothing that's used, appreciated, but carefully cared for?
Some are battered and dog-eared, but only the well loved. The others are cherished and appreciated, but neat and tidy.

Isn't it on the same island as Haiti? It looks like you at least got it close!

My best way of handling my stress is to gripe about it. Honestly, I complain a lot, but it keeps me from internalizing it. I try not to continually stress. But there are just some things that make me grit my teeth.
Alright, well, I'm feeling better and thinking I'm up for the challenge of writing my beloved and very patient penpals letters. I hope you guys don't mind if I type this one though. I bought some pretty computer paper, and think that it would help me send them faster if I typed them. I type waaayyy faster than I write! I'm actually looking forward to writing again! I'm sorry I took such a long timeout, I understand if you all hate me....(Sad face)
Lori wrote: "This is so fun Meg! I'm going to have to go back and look for specific locations though..."
I know! That's the hard part, and then you have to find it on the map. But it's a fun kind of hard, so it's worth it!
I'm with you guys on the cell phone too. I work in a library, and while I do admit they aren't nearly as quiet as they used to be (we don't shush anyone really, unless they are overly loud), people who sit on the computer and answer their cell phone, then proceed to have a loud conversation about their medical problems or some someone did really is annoying. I can understand if you forgot to turn off the ringer, answer and tell the person you will call them back, but honestly.
I also had a person while I was teaching a computer class (it's a small room with about 15 people in it), answer his cell phone, and proceed to start a conversation...That just was amazing to me. A 50+ year old man should definitely know better!
The Book Thief by Zusak. And Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. She just kept killing off my favorite characters.
I live in Florida, so they're apparently everywhere, Kelly Jo. But yeah, I agree with the trash can thing too.
And Lisa, yeah, that's true too. Or ones who won't let you in either. They'll speed up and slow down so you get stuck!
Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, and Neil Gaiman's Sandman series.
Main one...Impatient people. I hate when I'm standing in line, be it the grocery store or somewhere else and the person behind me is sighing and/or making rude comments about the cashier/service person. It makes me want to turn around and smack them. It's a line, stand in it, the person is cashing as fast as they can, deal with it, or go away!
That also goes for drivers who decide to get right on your bumper even though the person in front of you is the one going slow and/or (HELLO!) doing the speed limit. And they get so impatient that they yank the wheel over hard to go around you. Or they just stay on your bumper, go around!
To all my penpals awaiting a reply, I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you yet. My grandmother passed away on the 21st, and I have been so busy with that that I haven't had a spare moment. Either before nor after. (She was very sick prior to.) I will try my best to get those letters out, but right now, I don't know if my heart is entirely in it...:(
Rebecca, Anastacia, I got both of you letters. (that might not sound grammatically correct, but oh well.) So, Lori, Rebecca, and Anastacia, I will be working on those replies!
Congrats Holli!
And Tera, you made a wonderful choice! I know it must be hard for you, but it will be better for you to have help. It's not good to stretch yourself so thin!

I have that one on hold. I can't wait to read it!
Right now, I've gone back to my horror roots, and am reading Infected by Scott Sigler and Island by Richard Laymon. Oh, and Lisey's Story by Stephen King on cd. Very nail biting all!
