2996 I just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan A Novel by Lisa See. Honestly, Lisa See has become my newest favorite author. I gave this book 5 stars as I did with Shanghai Girls A Novel, Lisa See's newest book.
The Chinese culture is absolutely fascinating to me, and the stories are compelling. I'm so excited to know that a sequel to Shanghai Girls is in the works!

2996 Cindy: Yes, those are 2 of her books that I ordered! I also ordered her memoir. I think she also has some mystery books.

2996 I just finished Shanghai Girls A Novel by Lisa See. It is, without a doubt, the best book I've read this year. I have not read any of her other books, but I just ordered 3 of them from Amazon!
I highly recommend this book to any of you! I gave it 5 stars which I don't just throw out to any book. :-)

2996 I just finished reading The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder A Novel by Rebecca Wells. What a HUGE disappointment it was! I loved the Ya-Ya books, but this one really missed the mark for me. (You can read my review of it if you really want to know how much I didn't like it!!)

2996 Cindy,

2996 Allison! I now MUST have the book you recommended..."Forever Liesl". I thought she was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen, and I wanted to be just like her! I think I know every word to every song in the Sound of Music. I'll definitely be buying this book. Thanks!

2996 I'm not surprised that she would be so gracious as to do this for us. I read most of a message board on Barnes and Noble book club about the book. Annie Barrows participated heavily in multiple discussions! How refreshing to have an author to agree to do these!
I'm anxiously awaiting the date and time! Thanks Meg!

2996 Kate....in response to your question...I finished Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon last night. I have not read Lucky, but The Lovely Bones was probably one of my favorite books that I've read this year. I even dreamed about it while I was reading it!
The Almost Moon, to me, didn't "capture" me nearly as much as The Lovely Bones. I think I liked it better than you (from seeing your 1-star rating of it), but I kept having to go back and re-read sections of it to remember what was going on. It hasn't put me off her as an author...just hope her next book will be better!

2996 I thoroughly enjoyed the letter format of the book. It almost made me feel as if I had stumbled across an old chest full of letters that perhaps had not been read in over 60 years! My parents got engaged just before my father was sent to England for 2 years during World War II. There is a huge box of letters that they wrote to each other during that time!
I also appreciate the fact that in the book each letter was prefaced with the "From....To...." heading. I thought that cut down on any confusion.
