Your motto (12 new)

29753 After reading all of those, I now have not idea what my motto is...

*pauses to think deeply about life*

Follow your dreams, they may come true.

and I love the one Leo posted:
"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth." - Twain

29753 Hi Hannah! Sorry for the super late welcome! I hope you love the rest of high school, I can definitely say I didn't enjoy any of it, but I'm glad you are.

Right now I'm really into fantasy fiction all sub-genre's thus related. Hope you have fun in the group!

29753 @Amy - Agreed!! I have The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but it remains on my shelf for that reason. I heard the movie was just as bad. My sister couldn't even finish the series. I don't think I'll ever really get to it.

29753 Amy, it sounds good. I'm bored with predictable lately. It seems so many books have the same plot. I can't wait to pick up this series! I'm actually going to see, right now, if my library has it.

29753 @Melanie - *shudders* I definitely would have put it down, that is way too much. I'm in total agreement with you. Eeek.
Mar 25, 2011 06:54AM

29753 @ Debbie - I looked that one up, it sounded truly brilliant and somewhat disturbing. I always love books that are a bit twisted and make you think.

@ Peanut - I'm not a huge Fallen fan, but I'm glad you like it. I am, however, a huge Graveyard Book fan. It's a Juvinile book, so remember that when reading it, but I loved the thought process behind it.

@Amy - I've just added it to my TBR! I'm very excited, there aren't many gargoyle books out and I'm always looking for a new fantasy series. Thx!

29753 @Melanie - Lol, "Run away from this book"

I liked that. I've never read anything by Alice Seabold, but I didn't hear anything good about her other book.

Curious though, what was the subject matter (if you can say that is...)?
Mar 21, 2011 11:21AM

29753 I can't seem to finish Lost Voices
Mar 21, 2011 11:19AM

29753 No problem! :D

The Kindle delivers by whispernet. It's wireless delivery, meaning it hooks up by WIFI. If there is no WIFI connection then you can link it to your computer, but most of the time I just make sure everything has downloaded to it before I leave my house.

Good luck!

29753 The Gargoyle Prophecies looks really good. You'll have to let us know what you think!

29753 Okay, I know I'm like the odd girl out, but I didn't really like Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Seriously, when I tell people that, they look at me like I'm crazy. Also, I read World Without End by Ken Follet and hated it so much I made my husband throw it in the dumpster while I was in Albania (I couldn't do it because the book itself was beautiful. Most gorgeous pages I've ever seen, almost silky).
Best of 2010 (4 new)

29753 @Elizabeth - I really wanted to read the Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. I've had it on my TBR forever. I'm going to have to pick it up and give it a go.
Mar 20, 2011 11:48AM

29753 My favorites are definitely

The Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Summer Series by Jenny Han

I'm really liking books by Jennifer Echols too.

Jane True series by Nicole Peeler
Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill
Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane

There are so many good books out nowadays. It's so crazy, but amazing!!
Mar 20, 2011 11:46AM

29753 @ Jessica B - I've heard not good things about that book and then I've heard awesome things about that book. I think I will check it out from the library and see if its any good.

29753 @Amy - I don't know about the Kobo, by I have a Kindle and I love it. If I want to put a PDF book on it, I just type convert into my email subject and email it over to my kindle and it converts it into the same format as my regular Amazon purchased books.

I know on the Kindle I can share my books with others who have a Kindle, which is cool. And, I love the PDF convert feature. It will even convert word documents which is pretty awesome too.

Lyss (one of the mods) just got the nook color and I hear it is pretty awesome. I haven't heard much about the Kobo though. I'd be upset at having to scroll over and back for a line. I hate scrolling. I just like to turn the page. But, I'm with you, I buy my favorite books in physical form. I actually buy more of my Adult Fiction books for my kindle.

29753 I just won A Brush of Darkness (Abby Sinclair, #1) by Allison Pang by Allison Pang so that is where my nose is going today (since it just came in the mail).

29753 I heard really good things about Water for Elephants. I may have to give it a try (Ape House too).
Feb 10, 2011 08:31AM

29753 @Amy - I feel yah there! I've never had such a problem, never not finished so many books. And then, the ones I find that I love, I really love. I don't know, it saddens me a bit. I hope it gets better.

@Stray - I've been seriously doubting what's being published as of late. I just don't get it. I was reading this post on Patricia Briggs home site about publishers and agents and the things going on and to be careful if you're looking to get published and it worries me for today's literature. That making the almighty dollar (albeit important for life), is going to pounce and take precedence over a good literature. *sigh* I really hope not.

@Barbara - I almost feel like not making the reading goal may have been wiser. I'm glad I did it because I don't make many goals, but I may not make it again next year. I enjoy keeping track of my books, like you said though. Oh, and Goodreads is such an excellent place to find books to read. I like being able to view the actual reviews of those who've read it and see the overall rating. Plus, when you make friends on here with similar reading interests, I like getting the email with their picks. Sometimes I find books I never would have found in the first place.
Feb 08, 2011 07:15PM

29753 @Jennifer - I really hate when that happens. You feel like since I spent the money....gotta finish them. Been there done that. Now, I just buy the first book before I buy any others. Or I get them at the library first. It's better for my pocket book too if I don't like them. I feel for you though, I've never read those books, but still, I get ya!
Feb 08, 2011 04:06PM

29753 @Stray - You been having trouble with books too? I feel like most of the ones I pick up lately are just not that good. Although, Anna and the French Kiss, it rocked, so thanks for that one, but there have been like 5 others I've picked up only to put back down. I don't know if it's me or the books.*sigh*
