Authors must write in their own voice. We're just saying what makes it hard for us to read. Doesn't make the books bad, just tough going for an old timer like me.

Spuddie wrote: "Stephen, I can't say that I've really noticed it, so it must not be a problem! LOL I'm about halfway through it now and really enjoying it so far. It's a little "different" but you know, that's usu..."Thanks. It bothers me and I can't say why! It's just one of those things that jolts me out of my "suspension of disbelief" and is hard to get back into the text again.
It has ruined many books for me. First person present does the same thing.
Lisa Lutz is very, very funny. Honestly, she's more creative in her weirdness than Evanovich. Still, you have to hand it to Evanovich for years and years of laugh out loud books.
Spuddie, does the Point of View leaping about without a space break on the page bother you? Like at dinner, we're in one persons mind, then suddenly, we are in someone else's mind. That really annoys me. How do you feel about it?
I don't think it's time to write Evanovich off, just yet. She may shock us all and come up with another laugh out loud book. In her defense, she gives her regular readers exactly what they expect.
Agatha Raisin is funny, and there are some precarious situations she gets herself into. The thing about men is strictly a sideline. And ALWAYS gets her into trouble.

I remember that Bitch Creek was my first Tapply, and I was riveted to my chair until the book was finished. I really liked the Stoney Calhoun books.
I got an email saying Debbie had posted a new entry in this thread, yet the last one is mine. Is this a GR thing, should I go to Feedback?
I agree with you. Elizabeth George has become an echo of her former self. Killing Lady Helen was a stupid and pointless thing for her to do. I agree, kill Lynley.
Peter Robinson has been at it a long time too. I was disappointed in his last outing, but that won't stop me reading his next.Val McDermid just got too brutal for me.
