They're fairly suspenseful and definitely not light.

better late than never -

I've liked all of the ones I've read so far over the years.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I'm the same way - I can only read an author once or twice a year with a few months in-between.

I think authors are like musicians - they're contracted or pressured to produce and get burned out. As much as they love it, it's still a job, and like the rest of us, get work-weary.

liked this and recommend it.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I usually don't read a series in order or even follow a series. Therefore, so much time has elapsed between books that I don't notice if the author is losing their touch.

On the other hand, Stephen King has faltered a bit, but I'm not giving up hope. I haven't read all of his old school ones yet.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I read both, but rarely read a series in order, since I don't find them in order (mostly at book sales).

the only series that I am following in order is the Harry Potter series. Yep, picked up on that after the fact.

I don't care much for cozies, I like more substance. I'm not into chick lit (or chick movies, either). Give me a nice serial killer or creepy plot.

authors - James Patterson, Stuart Woods, Fern Michaels, Sandra Brown's and Nora Roberts; suspenses, Tess Gerritsen, Susan Witig Albert, Patricia Cornwell, Mary Higgins Clark, Janet Evanovich, the Kellermans, Robin Cook, Michael Palmer. I signed up for a summer challenge to read three new authors and so far working on Michael Crichton.

it's only fiction...

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I've learned with some books if it doesn't hit you right away, wait a while, read something else, and go back. Sometimes it's not the "right time."

Groups_nophoto-50x66 No, I looked it up just in case the memory was a little soggy from all of the rain - I was off on the title a bit. LOL

The Mystery of the 99 Steps
Jun 18, 2009 08:13PM

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I found Dirty Blondelast week and the first few pages sounded good. I think I'll like her too when I get around to reading it...LOL

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Definitely a Nancy Drew, and 99 Steps sticks in my head as the only title I can remember. LOL

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I'm reading Timeline

Not exactly a mystery, or maybe it is? it's a new author to me, and a new genre, more like a science fiction mystery?

whatever it is, I'm enjoying it :)

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Started Mortal Fear by Greg Iles a few nights ago for an Author Spotlight Challenge. Having trouble getting into it or maybe at some other time. I'll give it a few more tries.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I agree - I also don't read non-fiction just for that reason - you don't need to think as much when reading fiction. LOL

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I'm definitely just a reader! I did write when I was in school and enjoyed it, but reading is more fun.
