28257 I am reading Off-Topic: The Story of an Internet Revolt which is available for free and can be downloaded (or read online) on the book page. For anyone interested in recent events on Goodreads and the censorship scandal, I'd recommend it.

28257 Last night I started The House of the Wind: A Novel which is one of these books that interweaves a contemporary and historical story. I'm not even sure how this came home from the library with me because it doesn't have a particularly good rating here. Oh well, I'll give it a go and see what happens!

28257 I ended up watching the movie after I finished the book and I definitely preferred the book. I think that's usually the way it goes though, isn't it?

28257 So, I finished The Shuttle and kept going with another old fashioned comfort read by the same author - The Making of a Marchioness. I'm enjoying having access to the free classics on my new kindle.

Today I started Captain Vorpatril's Alliance by Lois McMaster Bujold who writes great adventure/sci-fi/romance! I'm ripping through this one even though it doesn't feature the always amusing Miles Vorkosigan but his cousin instead.

That's pretty cool about your husband, Leslie! I hope he succeeds with his campaign.

28257 Jennifer, Edith Wharton is one my favourite authors. Thanks for the recommendation about The Age of Desire. I'd love to learn more about her life. I've had that Lydia Cassatt book on my to-read shelf for a long time too. Must take a look!

28257 I'm about to start The Good Son which I hope won't be disappointing. I need a good comfort read!

28257 I'm actually having fun going through all my goodreads shelves and cleaning them up. I look at the books I added five years ago and even though I'm sure I'll never get around to reading them I'm reluctant to delete a lot of them. I guess you know you're among friends when you consider organizing virtual shelves a fun and relaxing way to spend time!!!

28257 Susanna, that does sound fascinating! I'm going to check that out.

28257 Alysa, I would second Gundula's and Lisa's suggestions. What other genres do you enjoy?

28257 I've added some books manually to my BL shelves from my shelves here just to get the hang of it. But it feels lonely. And I'm assuming the blog feature = a review?

I know Lisa would probably freak out to hear that I've never backed up or downloaded my books/shelves. I guess I should give that a go. :-)

28257 I think it's always an adjustment getting used to a new website but since I'm not a frequent reviewer, I'm happy to maintain both profiles, one here and one there just in case.

28257 The one thing I love about Goodreads is seeing all the reader reviews connected to each book. I don't see that over there. When I come home from the library with a pile of books, I like to check them out based on ratings, friends' reviews and community reviews like we have here.

28257 I think she's just taking a break from the internet for a few weeks. It's nice to do that occasionally, we're all so plugged in. I find it stressful trying to keep up with everything AND living my life. :-)

By the way, Ronyell, I'm testing out Booklikes out of curiosity. Still fumbling around though.

28257 I'll be very curious to see the movie when I'm done reading. It's a very quick read. I picked up the book and read half of it before I could blink last night.

28257 I'm ripping through The Silver Linings Playbook which my fried Joy recommended to me. It's completely different that what I was expecting, not exactly a comfort read but interesting! I had the impression from seeing movie previews that it was romantic comedy of some sort but instead it's told from the perspective of a mentally ill man in recovery. The narrative really pulls you in!
