Groups_nophoto-50x66 Cuechick - Those are beautiful.

JR - At this point, I've had an Oberon and M-Edge for K1, an M-Edge w/ hinges for K-2, and now use a Cole Haan w/ hinges for K2. I take my Kindle everywhere and use it on a daily basis. My ideal cover would be the beautiful leather Cole Haan with the added security of the corner pieces and closing flap on the M-Edge. The JAVO Edge looks like it holds the Kindle very securely, but I can't justify another cover purchase after just buying the Cole Haan. :)
I know most people love the Oberon, but I'm not a fan of tooled leather and the rough edges.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Hi Cindi - I keep hearing great things about Dragon Tattoo - will have to add it to my list! I had the same problem with my purse being my electronics carrier, until last weekend when I finally caved an got an iphone. Now Kindle, phone, and music/audiobooks are all in one handy little device. Now my purse seems way too big!

I just started The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Love the mixes! Our white one is a white german shepard/ bull terrier mix - she's shedding like mad and just got "furmenated" today - lost about 5 pounds of hair. The brown one is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (without the ridge :) ).

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Hillary - Maybe send an e-mail to goodreads. If enough people ask about this, I'd think they would provide more digital options - for kindle and other ereaders. It's definitely been hit and miss for me also.

Elizabeth - my kindle editions still come up with page number tracking, not location #.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I sent an e-mail to goodreads about this because often the kindle edition is not listed among a books "other editions". They told me to put the book's ASIN (instead of ISBN) in the search box, and the kindle edition comes up. It's kind of a pain to have to look up the ASIN then copy and paste it here but it usually does find the right version. Even with that, goodreads is still missing many digital versions of books.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I just realized that you can access free public domain ebooks here on goodreads:

Groups_nophoto-50x66 I would prefer to keep the list small, but I went a little crazy when K2 arrived. :) I usually am a two book person - reading one book and listening to another when driving, cleaning, etc. I also delete from K when finished.

Currently:
Cash: Personal Finance for Real People (wkly mag)
Dragonfly in Amber (audio)
The Help
Guernsey Literary Society
The Young Wan
Eat, Pray, Love (read it but like to return for inspiration)
Year of Pleasures
Revolutionary road
Why We Suck
Private
Never Tell a Lie
Three Cups of Tea
Several Charlie Huston books
The Handmaid's Tale

I like the variety there! I would tell you the books on mine but I just killed my battery for the day listening to Dragonfly in Amber on a long drive. :)

I wish I could limit my visits to twice a day! I spend way too much time on there.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 John - I thought the same thing when I read my first book on Kindle. What I didn't realize when I downloaded the book was that the hardcover was almost 1000 long! Although I enjoyed the book (Snowball/Warren Buffett), I kept thinking - when is this ever going to end?

With Kindle 2, I love the percentage progress indicator, and a long length for a book no longer bothers me. It's kind of fun gaining a few % points with each reading. :)

Ernest - I agree completely about the ability to add notes and highlights - even for quotes in fiction books.

Groups_nophoto-50x66 In case any of you have had difficulty finding Kindle versions of books on the goodreads website (as I did), I recently received a message from customer service advising that if you search by ASIN number (kindle version of ISBN), the Kindle version will come up.

Congrats to you new K2 owners! Mine is on its way but Super Saver shipping (and all the K2 reviews) is making the wait almost unbearable!

Groups_nophoto-50x66 Hi Mike - I have had my Kindle for 3 months now, ordered the K2 and will be giving my K1 to my husband. I absolutely love the Kindle but you do bring up many valid concerns. There is a fantastic message board devoted entirely to Kindle - www.kindleboards.com - where most of your questions can be answered by knowledgable people, many of whom have had their Kindles since intro in late 2007.

I can probably answer a few:

#3. If Amazon does not show the book as being available on Kindle upon the book's release, it probably will not be available on that date. However, if enough people click that button, you might be in luck. Hit Kindleboards.com, post your message about that book, and you can get lots of other people to request the Kindle version.

4. I don't find the Kindle very useful for web browsing and don't know of many people who do.

5. You will need supplemental light in low light situations. There are all kinds of portable lights that work great with the Kindle. I have an M-Edge leather cover for my Kindle and purchased the M-Edge light that fits right into the cover so I never have to attach and detach it. Amazon has plenty of M-Edge covers for sale and also sells the light. There are tons of other, inexpensive lighting options to choose from as well. Again - kindleboards.com is a great source of info on this.

6. I agree with you entirely. I am a huge audiobook fan and really do not know what to expect from the Kindle "voice".

7. Some very popular cases include those made by M-Edge and Oberon. (again - Kindleboards for more info)

8. What a GREAT question. Maybe try Stephen King's new novella called UR. It's about a Kindle and only available in Kindle version. (Not much of a story, however, IMO)

Enjoy!
