My husband's does not have a name, but collectively our Kindles are referred to as the Ks.

I, too, will spare you the long list - I have 23 pages of books on Ramses (yes, my Kindle has a name). Some I have purchased, some freebies, a lot of public domain books that I have converted. Mostly fiction - some sci-fi and fantasy, some mysteries and thrillers.

I have loved the Kindle and I think you will to - it is a very pleasant way to read and it's great having an entire library at your fingertips!
I haven't actually counted the number of books on mine, but my home page is up to 22 pages. I can't wait until Amazon gives us a filing method...when that happens I will put even more books on mine. I love having an entire library with me...I tend to read several books at a time to match different moods. Many of these are free books, but I have also purchased a number of books. I am addicted and I find, Valerie, that I read faster as well. To answer the question in the original post, I delete amazon books I read because they are backed up on my amazon.com account. Others I am keeping on for now, but will ultimately archive them on my computer hard drive when I run out of room. My favorites will stay on indefinitely.
There are a ton of great sites to download free e-books. Check out the kindle forums on Amazon's site and you can find a good list...if you can't find that let me know and I'll get you a list of ones I use. I downloaded mobipocket and it converts these to a format that works on the kindle. Sometimes the formatting is a little off, but most have been okay.
I just got my Kindle in on Friday and played with it some this weekend, since I went on a trip for the weekend. It was great being able to switch between books (I change reading moods frequently and can read 5-6 books at a time if they are different). I have real books at home I still need to read, so my Kindle may not get as much use at home, but at work, on the road, etc. I think I will use it a lot!
