I think it is more of not being able to see the progress on longer works as opposed to shorter ones. For example, I'm reading "Bleak House" and it takes about 25 Kindle pages before the % rises, where as a regular 300 page book, may only take 7-10 pages. But no matter, I will get to 99% one day.
