Yes, I’ve largely let the Goodreads group go to seed. I’m not exactly sure why, but I think it has something to do with not wanting to have the same conversation in too many places. When Facebook fixed its fan page functionality, it allowed me to syndicate my blog there and have discussions in much the same manner as we have them here. So that made two places where people could come to talk about books. The third place is Twitter, where I’m always around. I guess I couldn’t see the purpose of the group anymore. I know there are people who would prefer to use Goodreads over Facebook, but in the end, I have a lot of demands on my time and I have to make choices. It also might coincide with my own personal Goodreads usage declining as I’ve gotten more careful about what I say about books online (a side effect of working with a lot of authors and publishers; I can’t really offend anyone, as I might have to work with them at some point down the road. Makes Goodreads much less fun for me.).
