Maybe we can use this thread to announce Houston area meetings for writers and readers.
The Woodlands Writers Guild has asked me to speak to the group on March 21, 6:30 PM, at Borders in The Woodlands. The topic is "A Woman's View of Publishing." Those interested in TWWG might want to attend. I'm hoping for a lively discussion.
Thanks, GG. Below is another Afghan-related exhibit by artist Lisa Qualls:
The work in "Songs of Love" is inspired by Pashtun women's songs collected by the Afghan poet Sayd Bahodine Majrouh. The songs speak about love, desire, longing and passion for life.
Also showing Marilyn Lanfear.

I agree. The Museum of Printing History is a little paradise for booklovers. I took a paper making workshop there one day and thoroughly enjoyed it and treasure my few sheets of creamy handmade paper.
Houston has some odd and interesting museums. Does anyone have a particular favorite or recommendation? The Funeral Museum is one of my favorites in NW Houston. Has anyone been to the new Weather Museum?
Mark, I think a number of mystery and suspense writers have set their books in Houston. Do you ever go to Murder by the Book on Bissonnet? The booksellers there really know the stock and can recommend. Also, Brazos books is just across the road from MBTB and might be another good source for you.
Thanks, Peggy. I'm delighted to meet readers and writers close to home and all over the world. Sites such as Goodreads have turned us all into cosmopolitans.
Hi, Peggy. Yes, this site is heartening proof that lots of folks still love reading. I'm just getting started here, too.
Today is a big day for me, my first signing of my first hardback, Women of Magdalene. So far, I have six signings scheduled in the Houston area--so many bookstores: one of the advantages of the big city. And I'm presenting the book in Baton Rouge at the Louisiana Book Festival, another celebration of reading!
