Hi everyone!
I’m a fairly new member of GoodReads and am happy to have found this area. I’m a writer (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) and have lots of work out there right now, so I figured I would join in.
Nina, to answer your question, I generally submit to pubs where I have read at least two issues, either in print or online. For new publications, I submit if it seems like they are open to writing like mine. Generally, though, I am either familiar with what a publication prints or I familiarize myself before submitting.
I, too, find the more I submit, the more success I have with publication – which I suppose sounds like a given. While I go through phases of submitting and not submitting, I have been fairly consistent the past year or so, and have been really pushing it this year since I have a new book-length poetry collection out this fall. I figured the more periodicals I reach, the more my book may be reached as well.
Oh, and on the topic of rejection limitations – I don’t limit myself, though thinking on it… I think I usually let a good deal of time pass prior to submitting again, in the few instances I have. I think I generally wait a year, if not more.
I look forward to getting to know each of you better and learning more about your process - and discovering your writing!
Best,

Amy, I just visited your blog. Great content. Thanks for the notice about the new Siren issue. The artwork is fantastic!
I’m a newbie here, but it looks like there are some great writers (and readers) at work. Looking forward to getting to know the group.
Congrats on Siren!
