I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/comments on the following draft:
Front Porch
The grass if finally drying out.
At seven inches over the pavement, he needs to mow.
But he fills the frame of his narrow concrete porch,
Hand on his shoulder across his bare chest
And squints at the hairy patch of yard.
Just the way he did at eight, five decades gone,
When he was protecting himself
From the drawn stares across the street
Rather than the sharp blades of an overgrown August.
Thanks!
Hi! I'm relatively new member--poetry is something that I'm getting back into as a result of joining a writer's group & am being encouraged to find a group of people who 'understand' poetry--so, obviously, I'm still a rank beginner.
